Orange Juice boss Vern Nelson plays “Best Concert of the Summer,” Sunday July 22 in HB

Come one come all!  Sunday afternoon at 4!  Huntington Beach Central Library – Talbert and Goldenwest.

Internationally acclaimed by several friends, prodigiously talented yet oddly unambitious concert pianist and terror of the OC blogosphere Vern Nelson presents what is widely billed as “The Best Concert of the Summer.”

  • Bowie: Changes (audience will have to sing along 6x on “Turn and face the strange ch-ch-changes”)
  • BEETHOVEN:  “THE TEMPEST” SONATA
  • Schumann:  C-Major Phantasie pt 3 (by request)
  • Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen / Handel, arr. VN)
  • That’s Amore w/ Bluesette (arr. VN)
  • Liszt:  Consolation (by request)

  • Local 1950’s composer Will Jason:  Melody in E-Flat Major (world premiere – introduced by his descendants)
  • MUSSORGSKY: PICTURES AT AN EXHIBITION!
  • Charlie Daniels”  The Devil Went Down to Georgia!  (new arrangement by VN)
  • The Who: Love Reign O’er Me!  (sung by special guest Dr. John “The Rock Doctor” Hoaglund)
