They say a picture says a thousand words, but the one atop this post goes far beyond that. It was posted today on the Facebook account of Ruben Alvarez, a major supporter of both Republican Supervisor Janet Nguyen and Santa Ana Mayoral candidate Alfredo Amezcua. This picture is a Rosetta stone revealing truths that were only hinted at before. In short, Amezcua is in league with Nguyen. There is no hiding it any longer.
Two years ago it was Nguyen that told me that Amezcua had confided to her that Michele Martinez was his trial balloon, when she ran for Mayor of Santa Ana. Now we know that Nguyen and Amezcua are still conspiring together.
Now it is crystal clear why the bloggers at the Liberal OC have been so busy attacking Mayor Pro Tem Claudia Alvarez and the other Santa Ana Council Members and Mayor Miguel Pulido. They have been Nguyen’s lapdogs for some time now. It all makes sense. Nguyen is using Amezcua to try to bring down Pulido and his Council majority. She has been at odds with them ever since she first took office.
Now we also see Nguyen’s imprint in the failed Council campaign of Thomas Gordon…

This is crazy, but this is no reason to vote for Don Papi Pulido!
Gustavo,
If this was the only reason, that would be one thing. But he joined Sal and the rest of the Council in voting against SB 1070; he got rid of Lupe Moreno from the Library Board; he refused to honor her when David Benavides honored her and her haters, etc.
Don’t forget that it was Janet Nguyen’s employee, Ryan Trabuco, who sold my personal URL to Dan Chmielewski, setting off a blog war that they are still fanning.
Amezcua hooking up with Janet Nguyen is indeed the final straw for me. I am not only done with him, I am voting for Pulido.
“Que Se Vayan Todos!”
Progressives are being co-opted by the Amezcua campaign, but an easy bash of xenophobic legislation and minutemen does not a crystal city experiment make!
This is a perfect time to to sound the old anarchist slogan: “voto en blanco!”
Gabriel,
Well said! They have indeed been co-opted. How they can be comfortable in the same room as the Minutemen and the Usual Suspects is a complete mystery to me.
The two-party system co-opts people time and time again. In fact, a lot of people are dragged over hot coals for being hypocrites, when it’s just the limitations of the system that makes them so.
This year’s Mayor’s race makes me wish the election had a NOTA option. Imagine if that was the top vote getter! That’s the message right there in absence of a viable option/alternative/choice. Too bad we aren’t that advanced democratically like other nations.
gabriel,
My advice to voters is to file decline to state or third party. Quit the two party system!
Aren’t these council races supposedly non-partisan anyway? They’re supposed to be.
Vern,
Your party and the OC GOP do endorse local candidates, so don’t be coy. You know better.
Because of legislative term limits in Sacramento the local offices are seen as stepping stones to higher office – and that is how the red and blue parties handle them.
Again, I urge voters to leave the red and blue parties and file third party or decline to state.
