GOP donor Erik Brown apparently is into bondage
“The Republican National Committee is seeking repayment of $1,946 spent by a party donor and vendor at a sex-themed Hollywood club that features topless dancers and bondage outfits,” according to the AP.
The guy’s name is Erik Brown. He lives in Orange. I thought at first that he might be pals with Red County editor Matt “Jerbal” Cunningham, since Matt lives in Orange too. But Matt is attacking Brown on his blog. Apparently Brown is a moderate. I guess if he was a conservative Matt would be running interference for him. Brown also runs a company called DMI, or Dynamic Marketing, that a friend of Matt’s, Vince Monaco, competes with.
Brown allegedly spent the RNC funds at Voyeur West Hollywood – a club described as an adult bondage nightclub in Los Angeles. The club’s website describes it as “a destination for provocative revelry that combines eroticism and nightlife exclusivity.”
Here is his bio, courtesy of the Democratic underground:
Erik Brown is Chief Executive Officer of DMI, Dynamic Marketing Inc. a direct marketing/media production company with offices in California and Washington DC. DMI provides services for corporations, political campaigns, issue advocacy groups, fundraising professionals, and various private concerns. Recipients of the prestigious AAPC Pollie Award in 2008, DMI’s portfolio includes work for notable candidates as well as a several prominent elected officials and public policy organizations.
A graduate of the University of California Irvine with a degree in Political Science, Erik has been an active member of The National Honor Society, Young Republicans, Friends of the NRA, Claremont Institute, and the Sheriff’s Advisory Council. Apart from a passion for politics and a driving commitment to advocate on behalf of founding principles, Erik is a sportsman and a mentor to young athletes. As an ice hockey coach for over 12 years, his teams have won acclaim as State, District, and National Champions.
Erik is married to Alison Brown, a graduate of Chapman University and an MBA student at UCI’s Merage School of business. Alison has served as President of the Illuminating Engineers Society of Southern California, a mainstay of her industry. A former director of the Sunday school, Alison and Erik reside in Las Flores, California and are actively involved in the ministries of their local church.
Brown deleted his Twitter page, but here it is in the cached version.
It turns out that Brown is a friend of odious GOP Congressman Ken Calvert. No surprise there…
I wonder if he supported Prop. 8?
I always see the DMI booth at the CRP conventions – now I know more about them.
So this post suggests that they are squishes that like whips and chains.
I like your angle about Jerbal attacking a competitor – it is a vicious dog-eat-dog world of situational ethics out there.
With the $65K that Meg County has gotten and the good fortune of seeing competitors getting tied up… the Rally Jerbal must be pleased…
This guy needs to be audited, I guarantee he has a history of corruption/stealing funds. What a disgrace to the GOP.
May I ask how this guy got the RNC funds in the first place? Does he have an RNC credit card? If so, why?
This is Matt Cunningham’s pal, he advertises heavy on the Red County. So you can see how John Lewis has taught these young guys to rip everyone off with phony bills, inflated invoices, etc.
What a bunch of assclowns.

There is apparently, some sort of breaking news that will be coming out that will explain everything…
Right – see also assclowns…
I heard Erik Brown used to be pals with good old Mike Duvall.. remember Mike Duvall? Good times..
Nice “half of story”. The guy did a favor for someone whose credit card was declined. Saying he is into bondage because he went to this club is like saying your into clowns because you go to McDonalds. Keep up the good work…
Did a favor? They were at a sex club, and Erik was asked to pay the tab to help a friend, but was told not to worry he’ll be reimbursed by the RNC, and he thought that was OK? He could have said “No I don’t think the we should allow donor money to be used for this sort of thing!” Whether or not he’s into bondage, why is a married Christian conservative going to a place like this, I think it’s pretty hypocritical. OK, maybe it’s not a “sex club” technically, I’m sorry it was a “upscale restaurant” that happens to feature nude women dancing while wearing bondage gear (and weird horse bridle accessories) and simulating sex acts. My bad.
Since this Brown guy is a moderate, does anyone wonder if he is a left wing puppet in disguise? Let’s see, let’s have this alleged conservative person who is active in the Republican party do something really outrageous like use RNC funds to pay for a lude club outing, and then when the very proveable evidence is exposed,it will disparage the very party he supports. The whole thing seems weired to me. Is this guy REALLY this stupid, or will we soon find out this was all a set up? The “moderate” term worries me….can be synonymous with “easily bribed by the Democratic Party to wreak havoc in the Republican Party.” I think Repubs need to dig deeper on this guy……we might find more ties to the left than to the right.
