Official Statement from Mayor Lance MacLean of Mission Viejo
Mission Viejo, CA — Mayor Lance MacLean of Mission Viejo, CA issued the following personal message to the City of Mission Viejo earlier this evening.
There is no question that the past few months have been extremely tumultuous for all of us as we struggled for the welfare of our beloved city. For myself and my many supporters, I can honestly say that our intentions and efforts were honest and pure; wanting only to see Mission Viejo continue as a première community whose quality of life is unsurpassed in the county, across the state and beyond.
While I am certainly disappointed by the final results of the election, it by no means defines my character nor dilutes the pride I feel in the many accomplishments that my colleagues and I have completed during my 7 year tenure with the Mission Viejo City Council. It has been an honor and a privilege to represent my fellow residents and serve as your Mayor. Like the rest of you, I am personally invested in our community and the results of this election will not end my commitment to volunteering and participating for the betterment of our city. I encourage each and every resident to do the same – it is only together that the California promise that is Mission Viejo will continue to be realized.
It is, therefore, my wish to nurture a much needed time of healing in our city by accepting the election results, as slim as they may be, and extend my best wishes to my council colleagues as they face the most pressing community issues. I can think of no other individuals that I could place my complete faith in their ability to lead the City forward in this unusual time. I have decided that for myself, my family and our community that there is no better option than to look back at this experience, take stock of the knowledge gained and use it to navigate a different course ahead. It is my hope that through the friendships, associations and accomplishments of my tenure, the luster of Mission Viejo has grown brighter by my service.
Lance MacLean, Mayor
City of Mission Viejo

Is the following related to MacLean’s decision to “move on”?
http://blogs.ocweekly.com/navelgazing/breaking-news/ousted-mission-viejo-mayor-ask/
Look at the comment that begins, “Is it true the neighbors, school district personnel, courts, Child Protective Services, OCSD and OC Register knew about Lance\’s domestic violence?”
What was this about, and who at the OC Register covered it up? Good riddance to this monster.
While Lance has stepped down today, this latest revelation should give him reason to think before entering the General Election this November. He does have a 2010 reelection web site. It will be interesting to watch to see if he re-enters the arena with all of this baggage.
No one needs a statement from McLean today after all his nasty crap yesterday. He said he was going to get his reputation back. That IS his reputation — a bully and an ass!
And what about Trish Kelly campaigning for Mayor Vio-Lance? She thinks domestic abuse is OK as long as her own head isn’t bounced off a wall. BTW, McLean is not the mayor. He was voted out a week ago.
More embarrassment for Wayne Quint and the union for condoning violence.
Adios.
Wayne Quint needs to face his rank and file and justify spending around $100,000 to save this violent man. Continuing with the OCSD contract was NEVER in question.
If the Register elects not to publish my rebuttal to a recent editorial giving Wayne cover, or a rebuttal from one of the other proponents of the recall, I will post it here. Stay tuned.
Now what is there to talk about? The recall meant one year of not having to talk about the Metamucil label or listening to one more doctor visit story. Now what the h+ll to I do after my toast and hot tea at 5 AM? Mission Viejo is a sleepy little town with nothing going on. Come on Larry, trump up something — will ya?
MacLean refers to his accomplishments, which are better known as grounds for dumping him (self-enrichment, deficit spending, etc).
More information needed. Why did OCR cover up MacLean’s domestic violence? Which reporter(s) knew about it?
Come on Larry. Post it already, I don’t want to wait to see if the OCR prints it or not. What are you waiting for………. I have a short attention span and the nicotine from my cup of coffee is wearing off.
Your group keeps on amazing me!!!!!
So glad to hear that you faithfully follow our posts on the only blog in town whose writers are not bought and paid for by special interests.
Face it….Lance was just a really nice guy caught up in being “a politician”. What could he do without a proper role model? What could he do with a totally blank page and so many wonderous ideas to make his city great? The reality aside….
Maybe Lance can look back in the years ahead and understand how important it was for these events to traspire as they did. Perhaps, his wisdom and grow and he will learn to volunteer to help others without the all that “Formalized Electioneering”?
If he runs next year? Crush him like a bug!
Ron & Anna.
Lance has a 2010 re-election campaign web site. It will be interesting to see if he pulls papers to run again in Nov. For his sake, and his family, I hope he doesn’t and he knows why.
Your Group keeps Amazing Me! – Oops…Coffee has caffeine. Cigarettes and Cigars have nicotine! But hey, we added an extra “and” in our prior post! Who are we to correct you? Just in case some school kid under five is reading this?
Ron, are you stating that Lance was an “It depends on what the meaning of the word ‘is’ is” politician?
Like, what is the meaning of strangle, recount, and ousted?
“For his sake, and his family, I hope he doesn’t and he knows why.”
Sounds like a threat to me!
BBC. Lance needs to move on with his life. Should he decide to run again in Nov there are those in Mission Viejo who were upset that his prior history of violence was never exposed until after the special election. That information, that was posted at OC Weekly, will surely be presented by somone this fall. It’s his call.
As to Bill C. Bill Craycraft was one of my two mentors in the early 90’s and remains a friend today even though we both ran in 1996 in a very close race where I almost took his seat.
Perhaps the winships would like to define what’s so “nice” about a child abuser who physically assaults those who displease him. His neighbors said his family members got a restraining order to keep him out of his own house.
One of the police reports is readily available — it took four policemen to stop him from strangling a UCI employee.
*Just say NO to insanity:
OK….maybe not NICE…how about
MISUNDERSTOOD?
Just kidding, here folks! RECALL efforts normally don’t happen. Most fail without as much as a “how do you do?”
Please give Dr.
Gilbert all the kudos possible for being part of a community effort – to right the ship of state: as they see and saw it!
Congratulations Lorenzo!
