It is nice to see that Phu is not pricing everyone out of this event!

Here is Nguyen’s campaign message, from his website:

Dear Friends, Thank you for visiting my website.

In the coming weeks and months, I hope to earn your vote to become the next representative for the 68th district, which includes all or parts of the Cities of Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Westminster, Stanton, Anaheim and Newport Beach. As I walk the neighborhoods and listen to your concerns, I am touched by personal stories about how these tough times are affecting so many of us and in so many different ways. It is certain, now more than ever, that we must address this challenge as one community. We can only defeat the recession if we act in unison, with a common future, and fight for every neighborhood business, every school, every senior citizen, every child, and every working family.

We must not quit and we will not quit, because that fighting spirit is what made this country great. A generation ago, we were faced with a Great Depression and a Great War, but we came out stronger and determined to succeed on the world stage. We did not give up nor give in to narrow, self-serving interests.

Unfortunately, too many of our elected officials have given up. They have raised the white flag and surrendered to the lobbyists and the special interests in Sacramento. Too many of our representatives have failed to be accountable toward the people who elected them. They have given up on supporting sustainable jobs. They have given up on a first class education for our children. They have given up on adequate health care for Californians, especially to seniors. And, they have given up on protecting our parks, beaches and harbors. Notably in Costa Mesa, our treasured fairgrounds is in danger. Lastly, some elected leaders have failed to bring our communities together. Instead, they have deliberately and cynically created clashes among cultures to benefit their own political ambitions. It is clear-our elected representatives just don’t seem to care about the needs and people of our district.

Our backgrounds might be different, but the challenges that we face are shared. So, in order to address our common issues, it is my hope that our communities come together and work together to live together in better times. As Abraham Lincoln once said, “we must learn to live together as brothers, or we will perish together as fools.”

I believe we have a responsibility, not only to ourselves, but to our children, to leave the world a better place than we found it. In order to create the change we want to see, all of us must first be part of that change. Please join me in making OUR dream a reality.
