County Supervisors are expected to slash the public safety funding today during the first day of budget hearings. Supervisors are considering recommendations for cutting the entire budget by $1 billion, but the biggest hit to county services will be to public safety — an area that’s been ignored in recent years while other departments cut programs, laid off workers and endured furloughs. Department heads, such as the sheriff and DA, will be there asking for relief from the cuts.
