Y’all better vote for my boy Corzine!
The election of the Independents…
Tomorrow, voters go to the polls in Virginia, New Jersey and New Yorks 23rd congressional district. Most people aren’t voting. There are a few interesting mayors races around the country. Atlanta getting a white mayor is one of them too. But the BIG THREE are the ones to watch.
1. The Virginia gubernatorial race between the Republican Bob McDonnell and the Democrat Creigh Deeds. Anyone who has spent the last few elections on another planet doesn’t know that after a Presidential election, the other party ALWAYS, ALWAYS loses this governorship.
REPUBLICAN
2. The New Jersey guberatorial race between the man who represents the new face of the Democrat Party – John Corzine, Republican Chris Christie and Independent Chris Daggett. John Corzine is the $300 million dollar man. A limousine liberal, the shining beacon of Goldman Sachs and everything about banking and corruption and funding the special interests that has come to represent the Obama administration, will probably win. Christie and Daggett are splitting the center-right in New Jersey, for gosh sakes. Mark this one lost BECAUSE of the Independent. Can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.
DEMOCRAT
3. The New York 23rd Congressional District, to fill the seat vacated by the new Secretary of the Army. The Republican, hand picked by party insiders, was so liberal she lost most of her support, dropped out and endorsed the Democrat. The conservative ran as an Independent, will win the election and will caucus with the Republicans.
REPUBLICAN
Terry,
The GOP candidate in New Jersey chose to go nutter on social issues, in a blue state. That probably lost him the election.
If Republicans would stick to a message of stopping waste and cutting taxes, they would win all the time. When they muck that message up with diatribes about abortion, immigrants and gays, they lose.
So don’t blame the independent. Blame the GOP candidate for sticking to a nutter strategy.
Don’t be surprised if the Republicans/”Conservatives” take all three; NJ is up for grabs. Governor Corzine is a lot less popular than President Obama, and this much of your description of him “A limousine liberal, the shining beacon of Goldman Sachs and everything about banking and corruption and funding the special interests” is about right.
What I’m hoping most for tomorrow is that the civil rights of gays don’t take another body blow in the state of Maine, that’s also looking like a tossup.
If Maine equality loses I am going to boycott any Schubert-Flint Client even if it means writting in a moderate Republican’s name on the ballot such as Becky Morgan, Ed Zschau instead of voting for the Republican nominee.
Its time to make Schubert Flint irrelevant.
Well Art,
First, I wasn’t trying to “blame” the independent in New Jersey. It is the first elections out of the gate for independents nationwide (not Libertarians, by the way), and that doesn’t happen without some backfire. Given more time, the Independent was gaining ground.
As for the rest, perhaps you can look around and see that whenever the heavy-breathers bring out the social issues to cram down everyone elses throats, that they win. Democrats don’t seem to see it that way, or they wouldn’t have such a problem with their own conservative members. They know they have to vote the way a majority of the people feel.
Heavy breathers who preach the sing song of death by convenience, exclusive rights to a new definition of marriage, and disrespecting the culture that welcomed you as a path to success, well, they won’t be around very long so I don’t argue much with them.
well hell frooze over . i agree with vern on this . i think they can win all 3 if they win n .j with i drive fast corzine getting beat . its the start of maybe the house turning over and nobama one term and out .
Can anyone else tell what Terry is saying? I didn’t think so. The mouth breathers, the coffee filters, the sing song of death by convenience, I give up.
Yep, Vern. Terry’s off his meds.
And if David can explain what a nutter strategy is, he’s as strange as Art sounds.
Vern,
You’re a heavy breather if you live and die to vote for death by convenience. That is what abortion is.
You’re a heavy breather if you live and die to vote for special rights for a minority. Since every man has the right to marry a woman and every woman has the right to marry a man, anything else is “special”. Unless you want to give everyone the right to decide what marriage is, and there are dozens of definitions. But heavy breathers don’t.
You’re a heavy breather if you’re like Jane Velez Mitchell and think there was something wrong with the motel owner in New Mexico asking the workers who answered the phone to Anglicize their names when speaking.
To that I slap you down like Rick Sanchez.
“My real name is Ricardo Leon Sanchez de Reinaldo. I don’t use it because I want to be respectful of this wonderful country that allowed us as Hispanics to come here, and I think it’s easier if someone’s able to understand me by Anglicizing my name.”
To the race baiters who cry RACISM every time someone talks about American culture, shame on you.
“Since every man has the right to marry a woman and every woman has the right to marry a man, anything else is ‘special’.”
That, of course, is a statement utterly devoid of logical meaning.
Now, if you had said: “Since every man has the right to marry a woman and only a woman; and every woman has the right to marry a man and only a man, anything else is ‘special,'” we could have proceeded to dismantle your supposition about the existence of such preclusive “rights” and their applicability.
I come from the old school… pro life let God decide, Punishment when a crime is commited, children raised with knowledge of manners and respect and as the Bible states “spare the rod and spoil the child” lot of sense there, look at our schools where they can now pull a knife on a teacher, cuss them out hit and yet the teachers may mnot even put their hand on a shoulder or the parents can sue……. theyh should be able to paddle like they use to when kids were taught to grow into adults with rules. take a good look around dinner time at any fast food resturant like Mc Donalds, taco bell etc. you will find several teen ge and younger kids esting their family dinner withj their peers instesd of their fsmilies and not st a dinner table with food made at home…. it is a sign of the times and the times today are not so hot. step back in time to the 1940 and look and see what families use to be. oh for the good Ole days……
I do hear a lot of mouth breathing, but it’s not coming from those of us who support women’s autonomy and equal rights for our friends who were born gay. “Live and die to vote for death… live and die to vote for special rights…” I hear mouth breathing, hysteria, and projection. Zenger #7 is on target.
I laugh at you hysterically. You should let a little more happiness into your day.
This comes up so much these days. From a comment an hour ago on Talking Points Memo (to an article about Republicans’ fears that Democrats are going to steal the NJ election)
Most of the GOP-ers missed Psych 101 and never learned what “psychological projection” means. From Wikipedia: “It is the fundamental mechanism by which we keep ourselves uninformed about ourselves.”
OH, and P.S. 🙂

Vern, half the time, I don’t know what the hell Terry is saying.
“death by convenience. That is what abortion is.”
Terry, if you put it that way, can the same be said about war, casualties of war, death penalty…??
