ACLU Files Turkey Lawsuit

Turkey Execution

A turkey executioner!

The ACLU today filed a federal lawsuit seeking a stay on “turkey executions”.  The ACLU claims that the Presidential turkey pardon is evidence of a growing trend toward animal rights.  “We are seeking a temporary restraining order barring any further holiday turkey executions,” said an unidentified ACLU attorney, “We intend to appeal this case to the Ninth Circuit, and to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary.”  It is unclear what will become of turkeys in grocery market freezers, if the ACLU prevails.  “I think they’re evidence,” said PETA advocate Alicia Silverstone, “You know, like a crime scene.”

The ACLU and the President have become uneasy allies.  The ACLU has objected to a provision of the “stimulus” bill that authorizes religious displays on public property – so long as they include a shrine to Obama.  The President has defended the law, claiming it provides a “public option” to promote religious “choice”.  “It’s not like we make worshiping the President mandatory,” says White House spokesman Robert Gibbs. The ACLU maintains that the law violates separation of church and state.  Gibbs suggests that the American people spoke loud and clear in the 2008 election, combining church and state in the person of Obama.

Nevertheless, PETA advocate Silverstone maintains that the ACLU’s turkey lawsuit doesn’t go far enough.  “It leaves turduckens in legal limbo,” she says, “What about turducken’s rights?”
