Our friend Allan Bartlet over at Red County reported that the GOP’s Chairman Scott Baugh gave a “fiery speech” last night indicating “that it is not going to be business as usual anymore for the OC GOP Party… no longer will incumbent Republicans be given safe quarter for their re-election if they have strayed to far off the reservation… He made it clear that he is not looking for ideological purity per se, but Republicans in the mold of Arnold Schwarzenegger, John McCain & George W Bush for example are not going to be allowed to ruin the party’s economic and fiscal credibility anymore… Clearly this is an unsustainable path we are on and our elected GOP leaders in DC and Sacramento have been part of the problem. So tonight he announced a contract with the OC GOP voters. It’s not going to be good enough just to have an “R” by your name if you are a candidate or elected official. The “R” has got to mean something.”

Did I really say that?
Hmm. Let’s reflect on this for a moment. Okay. Baugh throws the Central Committee some red meat. Hooray! But don’t forget that the Central Committee is chock full of Repuglicans led by Ackerman and Ackerwoman; and Baugh is surely the biggest ‘Pug between San Onofre and the 605.
I saw Ackerman yesterday for the first time in years and he’s so skinny he looks like he has the SIDA virus….anyone know what he has? With all his railing against gays, wouldn’t that be ironic?
Talk is cheap. Political campaigns are expensive. Line up against the establishment crooks and they torch you (a la Tricky Dick Ackerman).
If they get rid of RINOs, that would be at least half the Republicans in office.
Great. He lists folks who GOP candidates should NOT be patterned after. So, they are gonna have to guess what it is that Baugh wants? That’s lame.
The GOP is a dwindling joke.
He’s throwing Bush under the bus? Now, nine year too late?
I am sure you guys are much more in the know than me, so could you name some of the remaining UPSTanding GOP? Bush did a great job of flushing good Republicans out of the way. I think about Christie Todd Whitman and Christopher Cox – both promising members of the party. Bush gave the appointments, most likely to get them out of the way of running for anything higher in office, and completely made them his bitches. Whitman relegated to post 9-11 telling everyone that the air was just fine to breathe in NYC, as her official job heading the EPA. Cox, newbie and pawn, just got steamrolled by a variety of deregulatory measures rendering his position pointless as an accountability overseer. Anyone who had any ethics or personal standards were treated as outsiders. The GOP has been completely gutted over the last 8 years.
So-called leadership like Baugh and Steele are not helping matters. Beck and Limbaugh have extreme views but are probably more popular in what remains of the party today. It’s a sad mess. We need a two-party system, but the GOP is going down the toilet.
What about all those pervy conservatives? This has been the year of the pervy right wing Christian nutter Republicans!
This party is dead. And when Obama passes the next amnesty and twenty million Latinos register as Democrats, that will be it for the GOP…
Good riddance!
