Hugh Nguyen, candidate for O.C. Clerk-Recorder, focus of Nguoi Viet article

Hugh Nguyen and his family

Candidate for O.C. Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen (right) and his family: wife Lorena, son Steven and daughter Gaby.

Orange County Clerk-Recorder candidate Hugh Nguyen was spotlighted in a new article this week at Nguoi Viet, the County’s leading Vietnamese American newspaper.  While most of us cannot read that article, which is in Vietnamese, we can read it in English, thanks to Google Translator, by clicking here.

It is a nice article.  The Google translation is a bit rough but the article outlines Nguyen’s personal history.  He fled Vietnam as a small child, leaving behind his mother.  They were eventually reunited after many years.

The article also focuses on Nguyen’s many years in the Clerk-Recorder’s office.  He is now the Assistant to the Orange County Clerk.

Nguyen is running against the utterly unqualified and inexperienced tandem of termed out Supervisor Chris Norby and termed out Buena Park Councilman Art “Stinky Pete”  Brown.  Both Norby and Brown appear to be looking for a paycheck, while Nguyen wants to return to his former department so he can improve service, reduce waste and continue the good work of his old boss, Gary Granville.
