Nativo Lopez gets his day in court tomorrow

Nativo Lopez

Nativo Lopez will have his day in court tomorrow morning, regarding the charges that he was registered to vote in two locations last year.

“Lopez faces charges alleging fraudulent voter registration, fraudulent document filing, perjury and fraudulent voting. If convicted on all charges, Lopez could be sentenced to a maximum of 3 years and 8 months in state prison,”according to the O.C. Register.

Lopez’ lawyer says that Lopez did not vote twice last year.

He also said that “a rift within the Green Party sent a vengeful party member to Secretary of State Debra Bowen with the voter fraud allegations. Bowen’s investigators worked with Los Angeles County District Attorney Steve Cooley in filing the charges.”

Cooley is a Republican.  Bowen is a Democrat.  Lopez is a Green Party member.  He has angered both the red and blue parties in the past.  Now apparently he has angered someone in the Green Party too.

Lopez’s supporters are asking folks to show up in court tomorrow wearing white, in support of Lopez, according to their Facebook page.
