Things are getting progressively worse for Tom Daly – the Democratic challenger for termed out Supervisor Chris Norby’s 4th District. Anaheim Councilwoman Lorri Galloway already jumped into the fray. Now she has been joined by her fellow Democrat, La Habra Councilwoman Rose Espinoza.
And guess what? The 4ht District is majority Latino!
Other candidates include Anaheim Councilman Harry Sidhu and Fullerton Councilman Shawn Nelson. Both are Republicans. Nelson is expected to prevail over Sidhu but I don’t think he can win outright – not with this many candidates.
So Daly’s Anaheim base has been twice diluted and now so has his Democratic base. Even worse, Latino voters can now rally around Espinoza.
Maybe GOP consultant John Lewis should start thinking about dumping Daly and jumping on Nelson’s bandwagon?
Daly may even get cold feet and stay put in the O.C. Clerk-Recorder’s office.
I have known Espinoza for years, ever since she was a community activist. She is famed for her “Rosie’s Garage” project, which has helped so many neighborhood kids. She also serves on numerous municipal boards.
So far Espinoza’s campaign website does not mention any endorsements. I doubt she can count on DPOC support as they are distracted with the Beth Krom race for Congress.
Espinoza’s website does however feature her position on several issues. Her website also states that “Rose Espinoza has experienced life in Orange County as a mother, as a businesswoman, a community leader, and as an elected official. Rose’s story makes her uniquely qualified to offer judgment and advice on a wide variety of crucial issues facing the district, knowing first-hand what works — and what doesn’t.”
I wish Espinoza the best. I am glad that area Democrats can choose to vote for her or Galloway instead of wasting their vote on Daly. How can you support a candidate who is backed by John Lewis?
Wow we are still praying that Tom Daly will run for the 4th District Supervisor position. We need a new boss who will give a damm about staff.
Please Tom Daly if you do not run please do us all a favor and quit. A few of us feel so sexually harass because we see you always flirting around with all the young girls in the office. We can’t stand coming to work. The department morale is so bad that everyone pray that you would leave and take your puppet Renee Ramirez with you!!!
Clerk-recorder employee,
Welcome to OJ and thanks for taking the time to post.
We’ve had other thread posts about different government agencies and you know what the superiors of those who complain here say?
They say that you all are a lazy, bitching lot. That you’re just slackers and you can’t take all the real work that the jobs demand. That’s what they say. And they expect everyone to just believe it and look the other way.
However, where there is high turn over, where there are sexual harassment suits, where there are offices so completely top heavy with incompetent do-nothing cronies of the boss, we ALL know there are much deeper problems. It is so damn irritating to have to deal with the boss’ “favorites”, too, isn’t it?
Not sure if you saw Art’s story of that arrogant sob, Williams, who basically denied the grand jury’s findings on his leadership and office. He needs to be reigned in, too. Hopefully the supervisors will do the right thing at their upcoming meeting about him.
I hope you get your wish and get a new boss.
Red,
Cler Recorder employee is actually Phil Becerra. He is upset tht h could not gt on the Daly Campaign staff and in tun work toward a job on the 5th floor. I mean WOMAN ( O my God, i am Parnoid) See no wonder the kids in Santa Ana are failing!
The office of Clerk-Recorder has been beset by internal turmoil and strife for decades. Lee Branch, Gary Granville (the darling of the media, however), etc. There is a pattern of novices being elected to public office and thinking they can act like an arbitrary dictator. They tend to not understand or care about what leadership is,they think barking orders, displaying angry outburts and playing favorites will work forever. Mr. Williams in the PA/PG office is another example. It never lasts, but it sure is a dysfunctional situation while it does. There is something to be said for professional careeer public servants vs. these elected opportunists who take office only to have a platform for higher office and/or to do favors for their friends and contributors. Perhaps it is time to propose some of these low visibility elected offices become appointed positions subject to the civil service process? (Jobs filled based on testing, open competition and merit).
Art, this is like 3 months old, and you’re reporting it like it’s breaking news?
