La Habra Councilwoman Rose Espinoza to run for Supervisor Norby’s seat too

Things are getting progressively worse for Tom Daly – the Democratic challenger for termed out Supervisor Chris Norby’s 4th District.  Anaheim Councilwoman Lorri Galloway already jumped into the fray.  Now she has been joined by her fellow Democrat, La Habra Councilwoman Rose Espinoza.

And guess what?  The 4ht District is majority Latino!

Other candidates include Anaheim Councilman Harry Sidhu and Fullerton Councilman Shawn Nelson.  Both are Republicans.  Nelson is expected to prevail over Sidhu but I don’t think he can win outright – not with this many candidates.

So Daly’s Anaheim base has been twice diluted and now so has his Democratic base.  Even worse, Latino voters can now rally around Espinoza.

Maybe GOP consultant John Lewis should start thinking about dumping Daly and jumping on Nelson’s bandwagon?

Daly may even get cold feet and stay put in the O.C. Clerk-Recorder’s office.

I have known Espinoza for years, ever since she was a community activist.  She is famed for her “Rosie’s Garage” project, which has helped so many neighborhood kids.  She also serves on numerous municipal boards.

So far Espinoza’s campaign website does not mention any endorsements.  I doubt she can count on DPOC support as they are distracted with the Beth Krom race for Congress.

Espinoza’s website does however feature her position on several issues.  Her website also states that “Rose Espinoza has experienced life in Orange County as a mother, as a businesswoman, a community leader, and as an elected official. Rose’s story makes her uniquely qualified to offer judgment and advice on a wide variety of crucial issues facing the district, knowing first-hand what works — and what doesn’t.”

I wish Espinoza the best.  I am glad that area Democrats can choose to vote for her or Galloway instead of wasting their vote on Daly.  How can you support a candidate who is backed by John Lewis?
