“Walter Cronkite, America’s preeminent television journalist of the 1960s and 1970s who as anchor and managing editor of “CBS Evening News” played a primary role in establishing television as the dominant national news medium of that era, died tonight at the age of 92, CBS reported,” according to the Washington Post.
“In a 1973 public opinion poll by the Oliver Quayle organization, Cronkite was named the most trusted public figure in the United States, ahead of the president and the vice president.”
Does anyone trust T.V. media today? Talk about the end of an era…
Wasn’t hard to beat the president and v.p. for trust in 1973…. that was Nixon and Spiro Agnew. But, Walter Cronkite… a good man.
“It was a day like all days…filled with those
events that enter, alter and illuminate…our
time…..And you Were There!”
Cleet Roberts was also a fine War Coorespondent
in WWII. Yep, those were the days when you
needed pare shaped tones…a real intellect and
a very likeable personality.
You always will miss the great ones!
