Downtown Fullerton was once an enchanted part of the city, complete with significant buildings and full of character. Comparing a photo of downtown in the late 1950’s to the same street today is like looking at two completely different places. The before pictures depict a hip and high-energy part of Fullerton. As opposed to the after snapshots. Click here to read more.
Cuomo is running as an independent! https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/14/nyregion/andrew-cuomo-mamdani-nyc-mayor.html Cuomo is a slimeball, both for this and for everything. But I think…
As a former resident of Fullerton I can say while the current picture isn’t flattering, I do think that downtown Fullerton has gone under major improvements in the past few years.
I’m only in my 30s, so I don’t quite remember the good ole days, but I do personally enjoy going to heroes bar and grill every few weeks and strolling down harbor blvd.
danapdem, you referred to yourself (5) times in (2) sentences, watch yourself now youngster.
Nice site.
I’m still waiting for the entire county to RENAME every street currently named CITRON to something ELSE, to help erase any hint of the idiot Robert Citron from existence.
*Ron will be celebrating his 50th FUHS Reunion
in October. They still haven’t fixed the Fox
Theatre where he saw “Carmen Jones”, “Calamity
Jane” and “Pillow Talk”. The Captain Commando
Serials were great. Just loved that rocket pack
on that black leather jacket and the silver
bullet helmet and the switch on the front that

biggest and most popular location was Amerige
Park and Hillside Drive-in!
I gotta be honest, Tony. I am liking the looks in the “now” photos. I like the trees, the tidy streets and the updated buildings. Visually, the now avenue is very nice.
JMO 😉
You Fullertonites should consider yourselves damned lucky, compared to your neighbors Anaheim and Brea. You had people like Chris Norby and others, willing to fight to see that Downtown Fullerton did not get destroyed.
Hi Tony,
not used to posting in comment sections in blogs,
I will get better at this! 🙂
I want to say, welcome danapdem!

Great to see you are getting comfortable here! There are a number of threads at OJ about your friend and neighbor, Diane Harkey!
Hey, one suggestion about the posting here. If you are making a lengthy post, you might want to copy/save it before submitting. Not often, but SOMETIMES, the software here can be a bit glitchy and will make all your hard work disappear. IF that happens, you still have your work saved and you can easily repost without constructing one from scratch. Just a suggestion.
Again, welcome to OJ!
Howard,
You got that right. I grew up in Brea back in the 50’s and 60’s. What they have done to the original flavor of that town should be a crime.
I’ve found downtown Fullerton to be fairly lively lately…much improved mix of retail (less antique row-type), more dining options, more livable. Nice mid-size downtown today, considering most retail has fled to the shopping malls.
