Proof that the DPOC is inept!

The dysfunctional DPOC's Chairman, Frank Barbaro

The DPOC has no power at all…

Someone finally pointed out what I have been saying for awhile – the Democratic Party of Orange County is inept.

“Democrats’ national wave of popularity has spilled into Orange County, but local Democratic leaders have been unable to capitalize on the phenomenon when it comes to electing officials here,” according to Martin Wisckol over at the O.C. Register.

Even the DPOC Chair had to admit that he is inept:

Frank Barbaro, chairman of the county Democratic Party, acknowledged that his side has gotten muscled around by the GOP when it comes to local races. One indicator is that the county Republican Party pitched in $666,000 last year to help out campaigns, while the Democratic Party here came up with just $90,000, according to campaign disclosure reports.

The article goes on to talk about how Karen Haluza got hung out to dry by her party in her campaign for the Fullerton City Council last year.  The OC GOP went after her and she lost by only 3,000 votes after the DPOC failed to step up to the plate.

There is also mention of some of the successful O.C. Democrats – and the fact that all of them had to succeed without the DPOC’s help.  They include State Senator Lou Correa and Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez.

Probably the worst oversight by the DPOC last year was the congressional campaign of Bill Hedrick – he barely lost to Republican Ken Calvert.  Not to mention Ken Arnold who may have taken out Assemblyman Van Tran had he been helped out more by his party.  Now Tran is talking about running against Sanchez.  You reap what you sow…

Just look at the dumbass Democrats in Santa Ana.  Last year Mayor Miguel Pulido and Assemblyman Jose Solorio endorsed two Republicans, Carlos Bustamante for City Council and Rob Richardson for the SAUSD School Board.  The Dems didn’t even try to recruit someone to run against Busty, and Rob went on to defeat a slew of Democratic candidates.  So sad!

The Dems can win in Orange County.  But not with the current leadership.  And I don’t expect that to change in the near future.
