“In an effort to streamline officer duties and to encourage the community to report more crimes, the Police Department is launching an online tip-and-incident-reporting system. Residents, business owners and others can now enter reports on the department Web site for cases that don’t require investigative follow-up and those that don’t involve known suspects. If approved, the reports are given a case number and are routed to a police supervisor for review,” according to the O.C. Register.
That’s all well and good – but the new Santa Ana police e-reporting site is only available in English. I found only one section of the SAPD site that is available in Spanish – the form to report a complaint about the SAPD. Click here to download that form. It appears to be the ONLY form available in Spanish on the SAPD website.
And few of the residents in Santa Ana have access to the Internet. Our one public library offers computers with online access, but it has limited hours and is closed on Sundays.
when you go to mexico do they cater to you and speak english . no no NO .THESE PEOPLE HAVE TO LEARN THE HOW SPEAK ENGLISH WE IN LIVE IN THE USA NOT MEXICO . IF WE KEEP GIVING THESE PEOPLE HAND OUTS THEY WILL NEVER LEARN ENGLISH..
take a chill pill, I’m sure they’re working on it.
#2,
If that were the case, why is the rest of the Santa Ana city website in English only?
English is the language of the United States of America. When Pres. Obama was in Costa Mesa he indicated the path to citizenship would include learning English. Why bother with a spanish website? If they’re smart enough to use the Net and find the website, they probably know or are learning English.
#5,
Actually, the first California Constitution was written in Spanish. And the Spanish government in California preceded the English one on the East Coast by a very long stretch.
That aside, it makes sense to provide this site in a bilingual format if indeed the SAPD want the locals to use it.
It comes down to this…When opportunity knocks, you had better answer speaking english.
