“Ten city workers lost their jobs on Friday as City Hall – struggling to keep its budget afloat in a grinding economic recession – carried out the first round of its planned layoffs,” according to the O.C. Register.
Interestingly, the employees came from the Community Development Agency, “where they helped bring together city departments and neighborhood or community groups. Others came from the Parks and Recreation agency, or from the planning department.”
It sure looks like the City targeted the Usual Suspect’s favorite departments…with the exception of Code Enforcement. Pulido and Ream know better than to whack those guys. The Usual Suspects would storm City Hall!
The city employee’s union always backs Pulido and his bunch. I wonder who they will back two years from now? And how many cuts are still on the way? Maybe they can fire the parking lot attendants at City Hall, since the City spent a fortune on equipment that should allow you to check yourself out?
it was 43 of which 10 happened in march. the rest will happen by June. ALl depts got hit with the exception of PD and Fire.
There are more layoffs coming in addition to these. Huge numbers.
Until the people of Santa Ana vote out Pulido, the council fires Ream and the new City Manager fires Police Chief Walters, nothing will change.
