Just off the wires. Hamas representatives in Gaza have accepted the Egyptian cease-fire proposal as reported by the Jerusalem Post as stated below:
Hamas announced on Wednesday that it has accepted the Egyptian cease-fire initiative “in principle” and that it was now awaiting Israel’s response. A member of the Hamas delegation, Salah el-Bardaweel, talks during a press conference in Cairo on Wednesday.
The announcement came after a Hamas delegation concluded two days of marathon talks with representatives of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service in Cairo. Hamas denied reports in the Egyptian media to the effect that it had accepted the Egyptian initiative unconditionally. Jerusalem had no formal response Wednesday. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Defense Minister Ehud Barak were expected to discuss the developments at a meeting Wednesday night.

Juice readers:
Do you think the Israeli leaders will accept the proposed terms and conditions?
How long do you think it will be before the cease-fire is violated.
Hours, days, weeks?
“How long do you think it will be before the cease-fire is violated.”
Not long. Either by rocket launches or suicide bombers.
But then, after what Israel has unleashed in Gaza, would that be much of a surprise. And then there’s the rocket launches prior to Gaza.
And so the wheel of retribution keeps turning.

Do you believe it? I’d be surprised if Israel accepts the terms, but perhaps for their world image, they might. It’s doubtful that Hamas will keep its word.
Latest update from the Jerusalem Post which may muddy the waters.
“Hamas’s interior minister, Said Siam, was killed along with his brother Iad and his son, as well as another senior Hamas man in an IAF strike on a house in the Jabaliya neighborhood in Gaza City, Israeli defense officials told The Jerusalem Post.
Siam was the Hamas political echelon’s liaison with the group’s military wing, and was responsible for the various security apparatuses in the Strip, including the police and the naval force.
Siam was considered a radical and was in contact with Hamas’s political leadership in Damascus. He was also considered close to Iranian officials.
Siam was one of the masterminds of Hamas’s violent takeover of the Gaza Strip in June 2007.
