For some reason, the blue blog in town is ignoring a couple of scandalous developments involving Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. One of her advisers, former V.P. candidate Geraldine Ferraro revealed what a racist she is when she said, in so many words, that the only reason Senator Barack Obama is leading in the presidential race is because he is black.
Ferraro’s comments were so awful that T.V. commentator Keith Olberman, who has not endorsed Obama, felt he had to say something. He said last night that Clinton had “missed a critical opportunity to do what was right,” according to the Baltimore Sun.
Olberman also said that: the “tone deaf” and “arrogant” advisers of the Clinton campaign: “They are killing your chances of becoming president… (while) slowly killing the chances for any Democrat to become president…. Do you not see, senator?” Olbermann asked. “Sen. Clinton, this is not a campaign strategy. This is a suicide pact.”
But that was not all the bad news for Hillary and her crazed advisers this week. The sudden resignation of New York Governor Elliot Spitzer, after he got caught with his hand in the prostitute cookie jar, has also had major repercussions on Team Hillary. Not only was Spitzer a rabid supporter of Hillary, but when Hillary was asked how she felt about Spitzer’s flame-out, this is what she blurted out, “I don’t have any comment. … I obviously am sending my best wishes and thoughts to the governor and to his family.”
Best wishes? To a guy who broke the law and cheated on his wife? A guy who very well might have exposed his wife to sexually transmitted diseases? Best wishes? What the Hell was Hillary thinking?
L.A. Times columnist Rosa Brooks had this to say about Hillary’s bewildering comments, “Years ago, First Lady Hillary Clinton vociferously condemned “the heinous practice of buying and selling women … like commodities.” What changed since Hillary uttered those words? Why isn’t she willing to condemn the arrogant pig that is Spitzer?
How can ANYONE take Hillary seriously at this point? She is unwilling to condemn the racist utterances of her advisers and she is unwilling to condemn her law-breaking philandering supporter, Spitzer. I swear, if Hillary steals the nomination, there will be an uproar in this country like we have never seen before. And the Democrats will absolutely assure that Senator John McCain will be our next President. Wake up Democrats! Obama’s fired adviser was right. Hillary IS a monster.
Art, what Ms. Power said and what Obama’s preacher has said hasn’t changed your support for him. As it shouldn’t.
So why do you not see the complete break in logic that leads you to feel that what Ferraro said and what Spitzer did would lead ANYBODY to change their support for Hillary.
This absurd notion that the foibles of a campaign supporter are a direct reflection of the nominee’s ability to be President is a total canard. Given the HUGE staff and support network needed to run for President, if that notion were true it would disqualify EVERYONE…including you.
President McCain has a nice ring to it.
Of course there is still a chance that all the demo voters will jump ship and vote Nader in November and foil the right-wing whatever.

Re: Jeremiah A. Wright. This man of the cloth married Michelle and Barack, christened their two children and by Barack’s account, is his personal minister. And I think he serves on some inter-faith committee of Obama’s campaign. This is not a passing acquaintance. There are spiritual roots between the two which leads me to believe they share similar values.
My vote for Barack is now in limbo. I am not pleased w/the Farrakan and Wright endorsements. These two persons advocate a separatist black community. I kinda dismissed the Farrakan endorsement, but the Wright endorsement is not that easy to dismiss.
Art does a disservice by not devoting a thread to this important matter.
#3,
“There are spiritual roots between the two which leads me to believe they share similar values.”
If that’s what that leads you to believe, then by all means don’t vote for Mr. Obama. He’s already stated in the press he doesn’t share all of Rev. Wrights viewpoints. So again, if you can’t take him at his word, then you certainly shouldn’t vote for him.

You are going to find strangeness in all religions. I was raised a Catholic, but in no way do I support pedophilia or some of the other odd things my church decides to do. I have been reading about Rev. Wright, and he is very much out there. If you notice Barack Obama has denounced the statements from his pastor.
You can read about it here:

If you dig deep enough, you will find something terrible about almost all religions and pastors, which is a good reason for having a separation of church and state. I don’t think that Obama will be taking cues from this guy. He was not raised with any one particular religion growing up.
Anon #1,
Actually, those remarks have change “someone’s” support. A co-worker of mine told me yesterday that he no longer supports Hillary, because of these remarks and the generally more subtle race baiting her campaign has been doing lately. Then there is this piece from the Seattle Times: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/opinion/2004280786_plunkhaun14.html

Eliot Spitzer’s downfall is quite a different, and isolated, matter compared to an ongoing pattern of race-baiting.
Adriana,
The audacity..
Obama clearly was mentored by this preacher.
It may be that fictional Man in the sky that has been keeping you in your female place.
Chappaquiddick.
Obama= deer in headlights the past few days. OMG are the reps going to kick butt or what come nov? Hillary is the only hope.
