I must admit you will not find me watching Wolfe Blitzer at CNN or Chris Matthews and the talking heads at MSNBC. However, it is surprising to see that they agree with Republicans. They each have admitted that given time “the surge is working.”
Larry. When did they say this? I’ve been watching both of these cable programs non stop. Yes, they have. Obama is surging across this nation.
Isn’t it nice to have the power to play with words. How we can influence or mislead the public with our keyboards and headlines. Truth be told there is a parallel to this unique post.
Don’t be so quick to join the ranks of Professors Noam Chomsky, Nicholas De Genova or Ward Churchill who are members of the Fifth Column trashing our country while teaching our children at high profile universities such as MIT and Columbia. I am thrilled that Ward Churchill no longer has that podium in Colorado.
Back to the presidential primary. It’s true. Obama has surprised tens of thousands of Americans by his recent surge in state after state primary. Surge, momentum, both have a similar connotation. Given time the surge in Iraq is working. So too is the surge for Obama. Watch the spin machines in action as they play down some of his victories as being from small states or caucuses that Democrats would not win in the General anyway. Nice try Hillary fans. Now you know what it’s like to put on your body armor and try to take a hill when you have someone offering resistance.
A change of pace today. Your thoughts are surely welcome.
Larry! What’s going on with you? That sounded as coherent as the Winships!
Obama is indeed the Democratic frontrunner. Looking forward to the press zeroing in on Obama’s two years in the U.S. Senate and his affiliation with the slum landlord.
This ain’t IL politics, as Michelle Obama would like us to believe.
Good morning Vern.
Are you saying that the surge is not working?
email response:
One commentator speculated that Obama is the direct result of a tactical error by H.
It seems that she initially promoted his candidacy so she could be positioned as a relative moderate .
No insights but, considering the deviousness of the Clintons, it is possible.
That e-mail response is far-fetched. Just shows how you guys like to spin things.
Clinton helped Obama win the Senate race in hopes he would be up against her? Don’t you think the black vote would have crossed her mind?
Blacks are not sitting in the back of the bus anymore. It seems, however, that woman are taking the passenger seat.
Good morning Larry. I was really just commenting that it was hard to follow the paragraphs or subject matter in your post, as it jumped about in a sort of free-associative beatnik manner resembling the works of those rightwing Allen Ginbergs of Newport Beach, Ron and Anna Winship.
But now that you mention it, yes, I would say the surge isn’t working.
1. It’s unsustainable, we can’t keep it up;
2. It brought down violence for a few months with a combination of paying off our sometime foes and the usual whack-a-mole, but the violence is going back up;
and 3. the main purpose was supposed to be to give the Iraqis “breathing room” for political progress, which they signally have NOT taken advantage of.
I don’t doubt that Wolfie and Tweetie said something along the lines of “the surge is working” These 24-hour gasbags will say anything that pops into their heads and then contradict it after the next commercial break.
Cheers…
Hi Vern.
And cheers to you as well.
I decided to have some fun with a headline today simply to see public reaction.
The real test will come next Jan when there will be a new family residing on Pennsylvania Ave. My sense is that whomever it is will quicky be tested to see our resolve
Check out Winter Soldier for some opposing views if you can stomach it Larry.

OK I watched the video. Perhaps you and I saw two different clips. What a saw were children in a street and a soldier riding in a military vehicle. No shots being fired or bodies being dragged through streets or hanging from a bridge in Felujia.
I believe the headline read Iraq Vet’s against the war.
Question? Were these vet’s drafted? Did they enlist under duress? If we had media coverage in World War II like we have today Europeans would all be speaking exclusively in German.
Larry,
If you had actually watched the video and listened to the servicemen/women you would have heard their candid accounts of why this war is not winnable.
Most spoke of their long tours of duty and their observations of how the war unfolded and some of the key events that they saw as positive and what they say are the stumbling blocks that will not go away.
You’d have had to have had the honesty, open mindedness and the patience to listen. If you even bothered.
Since you seem like such a “partiot”, I’d be interested in your comments on the subject that one soldier talked about – the medical triage of his fellow soldiers.
Underfunded, mismanaged, dishonest. That sums up this folly dreamed up by our “War President”.
And good god, Vern is right.
Are you in some kind of ether contest with the Winships?
Red.
We apparently watched two different videos. There was no sound in the one I watched. Therefore, based on your comments I will give it another shot.
PS: One video, of a few troops, does not, by itself, represent the 100,000 troops in theatre.
Let me suggest you reading “War Crimes” by retired Air Force Col “Buzz” Paterson. He interviewed troops in Iraq who have a much different opinion of the war effort than your example. In War Crimes he asked the young men and women in uniform the primary reason for joining our military today. Their answer: “serving the country.”
So while I will go back to your video, each side can produce supporters and detractors.
Red. One last comment. You attack our “war president” in your bottom line. The liberal media has jumped all over the Bush administration for not providing adequate equipment for our troops. Let me take you back a few years to Mogadishu when the Clinton Administration refused a similar request from General Garrison.
Why is it that Bill Clinton apparently gets a pass from the John Murtha’s of the world yet a Republican president does not?
Larry, do not hold your breath waiting for the liberal media to be fair and balanced.

Okay, Larry, I’ll wait on your comments for after you’ve listened to the video.
As for the genius of the self-proclaimed “War President” – he’ll be known for this war, for sure.
He’s got so many “accomplishments” he’ll be known for. His numbers are better than the spineless democrats in congress. But that really is no great feat in any given year.
REd.
So that we are on the same page I finally had time to go back and watch the video again. What I saw lasted about two to three minutes max. The last 30 seconds showing troops under a night vision glasses.
Sorry but I do not see any horror in the clip. I do see what appears to be soldiers handing candy to children early on.
Let’s be real here. War is not a pretty sight. As a history buff I often watch the History Channel to see battles from WWII and Vietnam where our troops suffered under very trying conditions. If we had embedded reporters on the front lines with cell phones and WiFi reporting back minute by minute our military efforts would have been questioned at every turn.
War is not a video game. On that I hope we can agree.
