This year’s Veterans Day falls on a Sunday. Therefore no one should have an excuse for failing to spend a few minutes attending any of the Orange County events to honor those veterans who have served to defend our nation.
Although I generally attend the Lake Forest program held at the El Toro cemetery at 11 a.m. I also try to attend my own city’s event which is held at 2 p.m. Details of the Mission Viejo program are as follows:

VETERANS DAY CEREMONY
The City of Mission Viejo’s Annual Veterans Day Observance will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at the Mission Viejo Civic Center, adjacent to City Hall and the Mission Viejo Library, 200 Civic Center. The Veterans Day Observance will include a very special American Heroes Tribute. Seventy-five banners honoring service personnel who died in the line of duty will be on display at the Mission Viejo Civic Center between November 3 and 16 during the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Candles will be available for members of the public to experience a solemn moment while viewing the photos and stories about each individual honored with a banner.
The Keynote Speaker will be Gordon Dillow from the Orange County Register. Veterans of each war and/or conflict will be honored during the ceremony. A United States Marine Corps Color Guard from the Headquarters Battalion First Marine Division at Camp Pendleton will present the colors. Pastor Jack Loo from the Presbyterian Church of the Master will give the Invocation and their Sanctuary Choir, led by John Elg, will sing. Members of Veterans of Foreign War Post 6024 will provide the Rifle Salute. The Orange County Fire Authority’s Pipes and Drums are scheduled to play the bagpipes. Refreshments will be served, in the Saddleback Room of Mission Viejo City Hall, immediately following the ceremony.
For more information about the Veterans Day Ceremony, call the City of Mission Viejo at 470-3000. To learn more about the American Heroes Tribute, call this toll free number: 1-800-983-4376.
In addition, there will be a Cultural Arts Program, entitled: Songs That Inspired a Nation–Veterans Day Tribute, beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at Mission Viejo City Hall. Timeless Melodies will provide an educational program about the patriotic songs of our nation such as Yankee Doodle, The Star Spangled Banner, The Battle Hymn of the Republic, This Is My Country, and America the Beautiful. There will also be a sing-a-long. The cost for this program is $5 and refreshments will be available at 3:00 p.m. For more information and to make a reservation, call 470-3062.
Will there be any anti-Iraq war protests on Sunday? Can you please list times and locations for Orange County? Thank you.
Hey, all the Anti-War protestors are going down to Blacks Beach in San Diego County. They are all meeting at the Starbucks there before they go get naked! They are looking for volunteers that
will do a left handed salute!
For the rest us…put out your
American Flags..it is non-partisan
in case you didn’t know! It also
tells our troops..to be safe and
get home soon!

As stated, Veterans Day falls on Sunday this year. As we attend church and Sunday school every week I will not be attending the Lake Forest 11 a.m. ceremony but will be at the Mission Viejo service in the afternoon.
Stop and say hello if you are there.
Note: Last night I received emails from both our city manager and our mayor thanking the Juice for this post and encouraging people to attend.

For a minute I thought that you talking about David Ream and Miguel Pulido. Than I realized that you are talking about Mission Viejo. Obviously they did not see the Czech wife beaters finger flip to Sean Mill.
Remember how Republicans and Bush screw our veterans after they serve their bidding in Iraq!
I plan to be at a service for veterans, because I truly appreciate their defense of our country and sympathize with the shortcomings that the current regime heaps on them.

Thank you for attending one of the local Veteran’s Day ceremonies.
This is not about any specific president or military action. At these annual event you will find veterans that have served in WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Persian Gulf conflicts I and II and Panama.
