The OCTA is holding a “’70s-inspired celebration on Aug. 31 at the Fullerton Transportation Center, 120 E. Santa Fe Ave., to mark the 35th anniversary of its bus service,” according to the O.C. Register.
“In addition, all bus patrons will pay a 35-cent one-way fare that day instead of the usual $1.25. Prizes will be given to those who have used the bus system since 1972.”
“A special party bus will circulate the county and give unknowing passengers free rides and prizes in September.”
When bus service first began in Orange County “16 buses served 38,000 patrons.” Today, “more than 900 buses now serve 220,000 boardings per day.”

Upon seeing only the headline, I was hoping the article was a follow up on Mike Carona’s party bus, Samantha One. Alas, your article actually relates to public service. Any chance for a follow-up on the other bus? E.g., loaded up with “deputies” to ensure safety at private bashes and on the road to Las Vegas.
wow… I remember those 35 cent fares.
