O.C. Supervisor Janet Nguyen has issued a press release announcing her donation of 500 tickets to the Orange County Fair to needy families and charitable organizations that serve children of lower income families. The tickets include free parking.
Tickets were donated to Santa Ana’s Kidworks, The O.C. Children’s Therapeutic Arts Center, the Delhi Center, the Vietnamese American Interfaith Council, the Thomas House Shelter, and the Korean American Coalition.
Many children will now be able to attend the fair for the first time! Kudos to Supervisor Nguyen for her compassionate leadership.

Did she pay for it or did she used my money?
Good move, but the price of things once in the gait is a shocker.
nice promotion.
Yes, OUR money used to help poor chilluns. How distasteful. That said, is it just me or do others detect a continuing theme of anti- Vietnamese reporting on this and other OC blogs?
O.C. Children’s Therapeutic Arts Center is a very good program for people with disabilities.
Amazing program for developmental disabilities and free to the community. fyi
Poster 4,
I don’t think any of my co-bloggers are anti-Vietnamese. I am certainly not. It is true that most of the bloggers at Red County are anti-Janet Nguyen, but I don’t think they are anti-Vietnamese in general.
I do think that some of the readers of both blogs are anti Mexican or anti Vietnamese. Sometimes both. That is a shame, but it will change in time, I hope.
And some people on this blog are anti-white.

No. I think most if not all of us are against people who are racist, regardless of their color.
Besides, our team is about 50-50 white and Latino. And to be honest, while I am of Mexican ancestry, I am as white as any other white guy.
I found it offensive when one of the conversations turned to someone needed to be Latino to fill the post.
It basically went unchallenged by any blogger here.
That kind of racist bias is wrong and should be challenged by OJ should it come up again. Jmo.

Good point. BTW, I submitted a list of community leaders to Supervisor Nguyen that included a mix of races and genders. I know that she looks for qualifications, not color.
And the same goes for me. In fact I am supporting Jordan Brandman for the AUHSD seat currently held by Harald Martin. I do so with great pride as he is a very decent fellow with much to offer to the district and its residents.

Thanks for being a community supporter Art. Janet’s made a mistake or two, but her overall focus appears refreshing. Thanks for the information link from her office. I’ve already signed up.
She is big on constituient services..and she is a very giving
person….hmmm…what’s wrong with
this picture? We never had Supervisors like that before!
Let’s hope “time in grade” will
not dissaude her for continuing
to think “out of the box”!
Thanks Janet..you set a good
example!
My children got to go to the O.C. Fair because of Supervisor Nguyen and we are so thankful! We just don’t have the money right now to pay for tickets and my kids had never seen cows or horses or racing pigs before. Thank you so much Janet!!!
