No surprise – it turns out Diane Harkey is yet ANOTHER Republican immigrant basher. There is a post today over at Red County/OC Blog about the ongoing effort to recall Harkey from the Dana Point City Council. In that post, Red County editor Matt Cunningham reveals that Harkey said the issues she finds important include “lowering taxes, limiting government and fighting illegal immigration.
Harkey is on our “watchlist”..
because our good pal Jim Lacy
says “RECALL” what shes done!
In the meantime, we heartily
disagree about Chuck DeVore….
“This is our man in the 70th”…
and he indeed answers our e-mails!
Jimmy Silva…..has always been
a bit too moderate for our take..
but what can you do with a dutiful
Marine?
You are going to have a “big time”
trying to dump those two. Harkey?
She is on our “Watchlist”…we
will say however: she sometimes
answers our e-mails!
Ron and Anna,
Hope you are having a wonderful day.
I think answering emails is important. However, just because a politician does so does not make him or her a good person.
I would expect that ALL politicians would answer their emails. In fact, if they didn’t that would tell us all we need to know about them.
But the rub of the matter is how they vote. What issues they press. Who gives them money. And why.
We need to hold ALL politicians to a higher standard. Don’t let them squirm off the hook just because they are responsive. Dig deeper and you will find the truth.
Art,
We consider our various comments
just “Touch Stones”. Not all are
driven by ideologue or nanny state
thinking. Many are not even made
regarding monetary considerations.
We ask questions of politicians
in general to determine their
veracity! Are they thoughtful,
caring and most importantly –
do they understand “constituient
services” and “political and
individual responsibility”. When
a politician “blows us off and
doesn’t answer our inquiries without the common courtesy of
a reach around…that tells us
“something”. We truly understand
how “some issues” are “too hot to
handle”….two good examples are
Fumigation Regulation (lack of
it) and Reclaimed Water (non-
disclosure of suspended viruses).
These are the proverbial 500 pound
Gorillas…that neither party wants
to deal with. How about Ocean
water Quality? How about the water
that runs down the Santa Ana River
or San Diego Creek? Well, you get
the idea! So, when a bureaucrat or
elected or even a Board Commissioner won’t answer our
e-mails……they might forget for
a moment that we hold press credentials and we have inquiring
minds, a production company and
the ability to create news programming. Chopped Liver?…no
problem…we understand our own
limitations and failing better than any of our worst critics!
We appauld those that step up to
plate and face the music..whatever
it is! Art, thanks for offering all that care; the opportunity to “let freedom ring”!
Art Pedroza, and Ron & Anna Winship – the sincerity of all of your remarks is truly remarkable in these times. Ultimately, it’s not about seeing everything the same way, but that we live up to a high code of values, and are able to distinguish genuine and thoughtful dialog from mere partisan or ‘favorite child’ politics. Thank you both for living up to all of that; it’s refreshing these days.
The Dana Point activists and political insiders — people with integrity — cannot stand Harkey. She comes across as insincere and having nothing to offer. If she didn’t have a lot of money, she’d be an unpopular nobody instead of an unpopular somebody. Her ballot-box success is based on buying the votes of people who don’t know her.
When did Jim Silva serve in the Marines? Isn’t he just another draft avoider?
