Believe it or not everything Larry Gilbert does is not political.
I am honored to being an Advisory Board Member of the Childrens Creative Festival known as Fun With Chalk that will celebrate it’s ninth annual street painting event in the city of Mission Viejo this Sat May 19th and Sunday May 20th.
Our festival includes street painting by both professional artists and children to arts and crafts workshops, live music, clowns (no, not me), and reasonably priced festive food.
Mark your calendars and come to the festival where you can watch as these artists create incredible works of art using the asphalt as their canvas.
Our non-profit 501 (C) (3) festival is dedicated to fine arts education, supports Laura’s House, Gary’s House for Kids, High School Art Scholarships and PTA Art Programs. We also provide art projects and mentoring for children who are victims of domestic abuse and child abuse.
Following is a testimonial from one of our beneficiaries:
“Fun With Chalk’s art therapy has been a wonderful addition to the existing programs at our Emergency Center. The art therapy provides the children with a time to explore their creativity and use their imagination.
Through creating art and reflecting on the art products and processes, the children have been allowed an opportunity to cope with symptoms, stress, and traumatic experiences, enhance cognitive abilities, and enjoy the life affirming pleasures of making art.” Margaret Bayston, Executive Director, Laura’s House.
The above testimonial surely describes why all the members of this organization have freely devoted our time and talent to this annual labor of love.
The location of the event is the Norman P. Murray Community and Senior Center which is located behind Newhart Intermediate school at La Paz Road and Veterans Way which is one block east of Margarite Parkway. There is a also free shuttle bus service from the Mission Viejo Library that is located at the intersection of La Paz Road and Margarite Parkway.

We do something like this here where I live in Santa Ana but it’s every day of the year and we do our drawing on the walls and not the sidewalk! We also prefer spray cans of paint and those really wide black marking pens! It’s usually between Midnight and 3AM if you want to come see us work! BYO Spray Cans! See you later on tonight!
I’ve also attend these Santa Ana spray painting events and there is no charge for parking and it’s free to attend! We even promise a nice sprinting workout if one of Santa Ana’s finest sees us and we have to high tail it back to the crib!!!
Anonymous #1 and #2.
We can always use some new clowns. Perhaps you might attend. If not, we will have a TV reporter and camera man from your neighborhood covering the event for KAZA/54.
Be sure to tune in if you clowns decide to boycott the festival.
