Intermediate students at Mendez Fundamental, in Santa Ana, are hosting a Car Show & Community Fair this Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at their school, which is located at 2000 N. Bristol, just north of the Seventeenth St. intersection.
The event will feature PTSA rafles, music and fun, including DJ’s and bands, such as “Los Luchadores,” “Tequila Worms,” and “Freezer Burn.” The admission fee is only $3! Proceeds will benefit the students who are saving money to go on a school trip to the City of New York.
See the flier below for more information. You can also call the event organizer, Hector Chavez, at (714) 972-7816.
Sounds like a lot of fun! I’m glad the PTA’s have gotten away from bake sales and carnivals and are getting into to something the Latinos in Santa Ana really like and that is loud music, lowrider cars, and Tequila! I hope they really crank up the music so the remaining Gringos in Riverview and Washington Square neighborhoods really get an earful of Banda, Rap, and Spanish Rock! They don’t mind doing their little white boy band concerts at Morrison Park but let’s see how long it takes them to shut down nuestra fiesta which will help Santa Ana yutes. I say crank up the music and roll yourself a phat one because it’s car show time. They usually have lots of hot girls at these too and bikini contests. Que Viva Mendez school and it’s sick car show.
What is a Tequila worm and what is Freezer burn?
It’s only fitting that the “best” school in the district, 100 yards from the richest neighborhood in Santa Ana, would have to do this.
I’ll take my kids, and skip the “home tour”.
I think they should do these car shows every week and add a swap meet event as well. We could really raise a lot of much needed dinero for your kids. Do you need a permit for a swamp meet? My cousin could run it. He has done it in Montabello and the city of Bell and Carson and knows what’s up. Can anyone tell me who he needs to contact to get a Saturday swap meet and car show going? I promise his shows are the best and he gives back like $300 each month to pay for a little league score board or soccer balls or something the community needs. Please tell me what he needs to do.
I’d love to see a swap meet at Mendez or Santa Ana College. It would be so popular and great for our community. There are so many exciting events like this we can have now that we have an all Latino City council. The white people always fight our swap meets and vending trucks and soccer games but we won at the elections so now we gets to do what we want to do in this city. I love being a winner.
What’s the matter OJ, Not getting enough hits? You thought making up #5 would start a new problem.
Idiots
#6,
#5 was an anon post.
I hope this is a fun, successful event and not turned into something else by turf or other issues.

Your enthusiasm for a weekly car show and swap meet is an idea worth considering. The idea of providing entertainment, goods & services to the neighborhoods adjoining Mendez could only serve to improve neighborly relations.
If your brother is adept at running swap meets in other cities, I’m sure he knows who to contact regarding setting up shop in Santa Ana.
Isn’t America, the land of capitalism and free enterprise the best!!!
I hope you have a happy and blessed Sunday.

Don’t get so excited about # 4 getting to have a swap meet anytime soon. Alex “swapmeet” Vega
busted his butt tearing down opponents signs at the request of Republican Carlos Bustamante,Timothy Whitacre and Miguel Pulido and shall soon be rewarded with the right to hold a swap meet.
I would like to thank everyone who came by the car show today. It was a huge success. I ran into John Acosta and Yvette Aguilar there, amongst others. It was great to see so much community support for this event.
The cars were fantastic! My kids had a great time. I hope they have more of these car shows down the road.
