Please welcome our newest bloggers!

Please welcome our newest bloggers, Ron and Anna Winship, who will be blogging as a team. They founded their award-winning streaming multimedia website in 1999, well before I started this blog. They have been involved in Orange County politics and Newport/Costa Mesa issues for many years.

Ron ran for the Newport Beach City Council in 1986 and was elected for three weeks in 1994. Since then he has run for the Newport-Mesa Unified School District, the OC GOP Central Committee, the Orange County Water District and the Newport Beach City Council. The Winships are contemporaries of Bob Dornan, Bill Dannemeyer and my old friend Gil Ferguson.

The Winships have press credentials and SAG cards, which they first got in 1996. They have interviewed many of America’s most famous on their program, The Cutting Edge. Their online archives feature over 60 commercial and access free programs. One of those interviews fetures CIA Operation Chief for Afghanistan, Gary Berntsen, regarding his new book, Jawbreaker.

The Winships also have a creative print company – they specialize in both political and product postcards, gift cards and marketing and public relations projects. They also maintain a second website, developed this year, after visiting friends in Hawaii.

Ron’s background includes study at the University of Southern California in the 60’s, as well as service with North American Aviation – Space and Information Division at then Cape Kennedy Florida as both a Space Vehicle Test Mechanic and EO Engineer. His two years of Citizen Soldier and Cryptographic Teletype Operator duty in the US Army covered July, 1967 to July, 1969.

Ron has lived in Newport Beach since 1952 – he married Anna in 1988 when she moved to Newport Beach from Sweden. They remain active in local, regional, national and international issues.
