Earlier today I visited Brett Rowley, Director of Communications for the County of Orange Registrar of Voters in Santa Ana. Before taking a tour of today’s voting activities I saw several people wearing white observer badges which are issued to individuals supporting Lou Correa’s interests in the hotly contested race for the 34th state Senate seat. They were monitoring the counts of the blue provisional ballots yet to be counted.
In the back of the front office were perhaps 50 to 75 other observers wearing yellow badges in support of Lynn Daucher and other Correa supporters with the white badges. In one of the rooms I spotted John Seiler, Editorial Writer of the Orange County Register as he monitored results on a huge screen.
Considering the number of ballots the Registrar’s office is handling I would commend Brett and their staff for an honest and productive effort.
I am told that the Registrar’s staff does not expect to have final numbers in this race before sometime next week.
Note: As any candidate can request a recount I would expect that to be the case with this very close vote count.
