OC Pro America meeting. Prop 90 & Meas M

Earlier today I was honored to be the guest speaker for the Orange County Unit of Pro America. If the next generation takes as much interest in the Constitution as this group there’s still hope for this Republic.

“Pro America is an independent, non profit, unincorporated educational organization pledged to preserve both the letter and the spirit of the American form of government as set forth in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United states.”

These ladies are pretty sharp with regard to the upcoming election and gave me an opportunity to promote Yes on 90, the Protect Our Homes Initiative, and No on Measure M, the $11.86 billion dollar temporary transportation tax.

On the former I shared the efforts of our state Legislature to enact a Constitutional Amendment that failed, minor fixes on redevelopment signed by Governor Schwarzenegger and reported that close to one million registered CA voters taking full responsibility of protecting our homes, businesses and farms from eminent domain “takings” by signing the Initiative which led to this current Prop 90.

As to measure M. It’s plain and simple. You do not dedicate 25 percent of $11.86 billion dollars to move less than one-half of one percent of commuters with a Countywide Centerline equivalent system as stated by OC Tax, one of their key supporters. Source. Feb 23, 2006 letter to Art Brown, Chairman OCTA. Allocating twenty five percent to mass transit only confirms OCTA’s agenda. We want you out of your cars. That’s not the solution to our transportation needs.
Even OCTA recognizes their flawed proposal be stating “the proposed Measure M may have to be refined and presented to the voters more than once.” In manufacturing quality circles we use the expression “dirft” do it right the first time. This concept was created by my Florida friend Philip Crosby, a quality guru who passed away a few years ago. He also created the expression Zero Defects.
