When I attended Ron Garcia’s fundraiser yesterday, the talk of the evening was U.S. House Representative Gary Miller’s legal problems, stemming from disputed land sales and suspected tax evasion, as you can read about the the LA Times article that ran on Monday.
It does not look good for Miller. So – let’s look at those who might run for his seat if and when he gets tossed out of Congress:
- State Senator Dick Ackerman – you know he has wanted to go to DC for some time. This is his golden opportunity!
- State Assemblywoman Lynn Daucher – she is working hard to win the 34th Senate District, but Miller’s House seat would be a great consolation prize…
- OC Supervisor Chris Norby won’t need to extend his Supervisorial term if he goes to the US Congress. How about no term limits at all Chris!
- La Habra Councilwoman Rosie Espinoza got sentenced to her garage when she ran against Norby – now she can get revenge by running against him for Miller’s seat
- Assembly Member Bob Huff beat two well-funded candidates to get to Sacramento – could he be interested in moving to DC?
- Tim Escobar couldn’t beat Loretta’s sister – but running for an open seat in a special election is another matter altogether.
I’m sure I am overlooking other Democrat and GOP candidates – if you know of any, let us know!
Well I heard Miller complain that we were “BECOMING JUST LIKE MEXICO” to a couple of rabble rousers on KFI.
He was right: Corrupt Politicos and all.
I believe Mr. Escobar was running in an open seat (no incumbent) the first time he lost to Linda.
Do people really think these scandals (first Monrovia, now Fontana) will bring Miller down?
