Garcia event rocks the Improv in Brea

Ron Garcia’s kick-off event was a huge hit tonight at the Improv in downtown Brea. Garcia, a Planning Commissioner running for the City Council, attracted over 200 fans and supporters to the dinner, which featured the very funny Pastor Dave Rader and another comedian provided by the Improv.

Rader cracked everyone up with his “clean” jokes – including a funny bit about Assemblywoman Lynn Daucher. Rader said that a Democratic Assemblyman was bragging to Daucher that he always tips service people in Sacramento at least $20 and tells them he is proud to be a Democrat. Daucher replied that she gives no tips – and tells them that she too is a Democrat. Bada bing!

Garcia’s supporters included his fellow Planning Commissioners and Brea Councilmember John Beauman. Daucher and her husband Don were also there – as she has endorsed Garcia too. Daucher flew down from Sacramento in order to be at the meeting. I actually had dinner with her husband, and later had a chance to enjoy dessert with the Dauchers after the event, at a nearby restaurant, Taps.

It turns out that Don Daucher, who used to be Gene Autry’s legal counsel, loves baseball cards and we enjoyed talking about cards and baseball in general. I used to own a chain of collectibles stores many years ago, and I sold a lot of baseball cards in my time.

Daucher has been walking a lot of precincts in the 34th Senate District, according to her husband, and she is picking up a lot of support. She certainly made the right call in endorsing Garcia! He looks to be a GOP star in the making.
