Karen Finn tells me that has been asking for public records from the Clerk of the Board for the Orange County Board of Supervisors Office, regarding Sheriff Carona and Jon Fleischman. Finn is looking for all the files pertaining to the ongoing attempt to fire Lt. Bill Hunt and the deputies who supported him, from the OC Sheriff’s department, after the June 6th election.
According to Finn, Carona is trying to “slam good cops.” However, the County Counsel for the Board of Supervisors, which, as Finn puts it, “is really supposed to be working for the tax payers,” will not give her the records she has requested.
Finn is looking for emails, fax, and memos related to Carona’s acts against Hunt and his fellow deputies. She has been told that her request will take a year and that Carona does not have the time to put someone on it. Finn says that she has asked the County Counsel over and over again for the documents in question, and they keep saying it will take too much time . Finn says that she has been told that the files are in Carona’s office, but so far she has yet to see any of them.
It sounds like Finn ought to call Supervisors Chris Norby and Lou Correa. They have each stood up to Carona in recent weeks. The public needs to know more about the “Witch Hunt.”
Seems to me the County isn’t complying with the law. I was under the impression there was a two response allowed and then records had to be produced.
If there as so many records on this issue it is going to take a year to collect them that should tell people all they need to know about this matter.
Karen is a good person.
I just hope she does not run into some payback from this sad excuse for a sheriff.
Thank you Art for posting this and thank you anonymous for those kind words. If the Sheriff wants to come after me it will just show low he can go by coming after a police officers wife. I feel it is time to go public with this. Since I have been asking for public request records on Sheriff Carona they have done nothing but produced (1) dollar statements here and there. Through all of this so far I have seen Sheriff Carona
Karen Finn has significant difficulty writing a sentence that makes sense and most of her writings are difficult to understand.
Perhaps, IF the public record requests that she makes are prepared with a similar challenging style it would then be very difficult for theses requests to be completed.
Karen Finn states that she has more public record requests in – how many has she submitted?
Does this mean that Karen Finn is on a fishing expedition? Is she submitting public records act requests with no idea what she is looking for and only hoping that something useful to her agenda pops up in the mounds of paper she is requesting.
Karen Finn seems concerned about how Proposition 172 Funds are being spent – yet doesn’t realize of acknowledge that her numerous and frivolous public records requests consume Proposition 172 funds. She is wasting resources herself.
Finally, I hope that Karen Finn realizes that her efforts are not appreciated by some police officers, me being one.
Sergeant,
This is the internet, people’s writing is fragmented and hard to read.
Your post reads like a pooly written police report.
It does’nt take a validictorian to understand that Corona is at the very least disingenuous, perhaps criminally negligent.
I think Karens repeated “policemans wife” mantra is gross and to me represents the worst part of cops and firemen, thier over inflated ego’s(Thats why the Tee-shirt and bumper sticker business to these groups is a multi million dollar industry). But more disgusting is your defense of an obvious political turncoat.

Is that a threat?
Sounds like one one to us.
You know what we don’t appreciate Sergeant?
Deputies who lounge around cigar shops smoking cigars while on paid duty.
Oh ya.
I’ve got video to prove it.
Sergeant,
I, for one, did not think your post sounded like a “threat.”
The byzantine conspiracies suggested by Finn sound like amateur Kremlinology.
I think I will buy a few share of Alcoa today, sales in Reynolds wrap must be up…
Anonymous thank you for sticking up for me.
I know in my heart that Serge is not a Police Officer at all!
He is just a wantabe.
Might even be Fleshy himself!!!
Sheriff Carona’s side kick.
He cannot even tell me his real name. He never has and he never will. If he is going to pose as a cop then use your badge number!
Not to mention it is a Felony to impersonate a Police Officer Serge. So come clean with the name and stand up to me.
But if you want to take me on then tell me your real name, Oh yeah and a badge number will do also.
Plus asking for Public request records do not take prop 172 funds, and if it does, thank you for rating out the County for me. You have no clue what I want or what I have requested. I am going to make sure I print out all your post and take them to the DA with me next week so he can go over them and see you are showing files to others in offices and making calls you are not suppose to. Not to mention just to check out if you are a real COP OR NOT!
So keep posting. I will take that Threat with me..
I am proud that I am a Police officers wife. Is yours?
I also mentioned Sept. 11th, and police, and fire, to the County last meeting if you were watching?
My husband’s father was a police officer in New York City.. So anything else you want to rag on me for Serge? You cannot even come close to my ethics or my husbands.
He is a better man and a better police officer (if that is what you say you are) than you could ever be.
Karen is a big girl and needs to stop hiding behind, “my husband is a cop,” I’m a girl,” and “my Father-In-Law” was a cop.
Karen has placed herself in the “political arena” by her own choosing and we as cops have taken an oath to defend that right.
The fact that she married a cop does not make her right on all issues.
Karen since you brought up the words eithcs, let me remind you OUR ethics, Law Enforcements code of ethics, paragraph 3 1st sentence,
“I will never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, political beliefs, aspirations, animosities or friendships to influence my decisions.”
I’m curious, would Mr. Officer Karen Finn be willing to release his personel file, including all his discipline, unfounded compliants, allegations etc to the public? Just because someone does not agree with his style of policing…trust me if he has been in this business for a given period of time he has been second-guessed and someone has differed with his style (right or wrong)?
Well Karen?
