Thomas Gordon to run against Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido
Orange Juice blogger Thomas Gordon has pulled papers to run against Santa Ana Mayor Miguel Pulido. Gordon, an asbestos inspector for the Los Angeles Unified School District, is incensed about the asbestos pollution created by Santa Ana developer Mike Harrah recently when his subcontractors began to demolish a building in downtown Santa Ana to make way for the dreaded One Broadway Plaza building that was backed by Pulido.
Three schools are located near the site, and Harrah’s contractors screwed up so badly that they have had to completely envelop the building in question and apply negative air and filters to clean up their mess.
Gordon intends to collect signatures and qualify by tomorrow’s deadline for the mayoral contest. It remains to be seen if Santa Ana Council Member Mike Garcia is going to run against Pulido as well – but Gordon is in no matter what. Go Thomas!
best wishes Tom but I wish you were running for Ward 6 council. Go show them Republicans can still get elected!
Thomas,
On or about June 7, 2006 you have send me an email in which you ask me to answer the following 5 questions which I have answered to you and to the SantaAnaCitizens.
Now when you are aspiring mayor yourself I would appreciate if you answer same questions to us.
“Gordon, Thomas wrote:
Mr. Fiala,
What is your vision for Santa Ana and how would you achieve it?
Where do you see this city 4 years from now?
What is the single biggest issue facing Santa Ana today?
What is Santa Ana
Howard O. Kieffer stated: “As you all will undoubtedly come to realize – this is merely theatre.” referring to Garcia’s mayorship.
I wonder what is the plot……
Thomas Gordon stated:
“Every single person that lives in Santa Ana should feel safe
and be secure in the knowledge that those who sit in the big chairs
represent them and not just the developers, builders, unions,
special interest and investment partners.
All council meeting should be televised.
All neighborhoods should have a say in the governance of the city.
Existing laws should be enforced.
City assests should be repaired.
Libraries should be fully funded.
Parks should be clean safe places for kids and adults alike.
We should all never forget those 3 all important words.
WE THE PEOPLE.”
Thomas, when you referring to “WE THE PEOPLE” clich
Emulate Giuliani. Do what is right and give Santa Ana a good kick in the pants. Everyone said no one could change NY — Giuliani proved them wrong.
The problem with Santa Ana is the citizen’s mentality. That is what keeps the city from rising above — Educated and non-educated alike don’t think the city is worthy. –Ask a realtor. Ask your neighbor (the one not involved in politics).
Everyone has accepted many crimes to be the norm — shopping cart removal, vending trucks in residentially zoned neighborhoods, multi-families in single family homes, riding a bike without a helmet on the wrong side of the road or on a sidewalk, jaywalking…
Enforce the laws. Clean up the city.
Create an ad campaign boasting all the culture and architecture.

With your vision of Santa Ana, how long before we have a D’Aiallo style shooting by the police. He supposedly “cleaned up” the city, but how many minorities were beaten or shot for no reason other than the fact they were minority. Is that your vision for Santa Ana. Mexicans beware, the extermination is coming under the Gordon/McEwen regime.
Anonymous 1:30pm, The solution for the troubles Santa Ana has in your view is to eliminate crime and the crime you suggest elimination of that would result in the renaissance of the city is : Shopping cart removable, truck vendors in residential areas,multi-families in single residential homes, riding a bike without a helmet on the wrong side of the road and on the sidewalk and jaywalking.Wow,that should be simple to do. We just need to eliminate some how the majority population of this city you blame for this. Art Lomeli
Stanly is a threat based upon the fact that he reminds us just what the first casualty is…THE TRUTH!
Since the bastards feel threatened and cannot argue against the truth, they must attack the individual and his character…by their actions we now know just how much truth Stanley has told at OJ!
Wow Art! “Elimination of the majority of the city”? Kind of sounds like you have that city mentality that keeps Santa Ana down. Bend over so we can give you a good kick in the pants.
How about we make the city law abiding (by everyone)? And that means ENFORCING the laws (to all).
Pummel over those who put up roadblocks or shout racism to protect criminal activity.
Out with the old (mentality) — in with the new!
Wow Art! There you go again. It seems your interpretation of what you read is pretty pat. May we suggest glasses for your next post reading?
Frankly, enforcing those laws will do wonders for the city. Even though they are not the worst crimes of the city, they sure do a lot to keep it down.
And what perception are you talking about?
May I suggest all of you (Because you say we in your post) open your mind.Where did I say not to enforce the laws . You suffer of selective comprehension. Art Lomeli
ydvrublmAnonymous 4:39.I believe people with your agenda have agreed on a strategy of acusing individuals proposing fairness as acusing others of racism. This strategy is then used to discredit opinions. The perception I refered to is that all commentary coming from individuals like me is based on claiming racism. Art Lomeli
Sorry Art. I don’t raise the racism bs. I believe “the race card” is a lazy and uneducated way of skirting the issues. You must have misread my post.
I don’t have an agenda either. All I think is that Santa Ana could create a better name for itself if its own people quit pulling it down. And I am talking about every citizen.
Art,
I said,
“Pummel over those who put up roadblocks or shout racism to protect criminal activity.”
May I clarify the above? … Unions and other groups inevitably show up at council meetings and produce court cases when SA tries to make living conditions for neighborhoods better. Such groups set up roadblocks inhibiting beautification and are most always pulling the race card. We need a mayor and council willing and able to stand up and take our city back from those mobsters.
Don’t you agree?
Anonymous 9:03pm. I agree with you. My comments in no way are acusotory of racism. We are discussing issues of which we might have a differance of opinion and nothing else.
Anonymous 9:15. On face value of your clarification I agree with you totally.I thought that comment was meant for me and you where suggesting I get beat up.I feel better.
Is someone angry?
