Update on Daucher vs. Moreno

OC Register reporter Martin Wisckol has written an update on the GOP rivals for the 34th Senate District, over at his Total Buzz blog. The most interesting revelation is proof of something I blogged earlier this week – Daucher is indeed mailing to Democrat voters during the primary contest. Her consultant, Jim Nygren, admits that he is not concerned about Moreno, and is instead focusing on building Daucher’s name ID. Good luck with that Jim – if Daucher prevails in the primary, she will still have almost no name ID in the 34th, compared to either of her Democrat opponents – Tom Umberg or Lou Correa.

If Correa wins the nomination, he will enjoy a huge name ID advantage over Daucher. She is after all a virtual carpetbagger of a candidate. Her current Assembly district barely overlaps the northern part of the 34th. She is utterly unknown in Santa Ana and Anaheim. Even worse, once voters get to know what Daucher stands for, they will either vote for Moreno, or end up voting for a real Democrat, instead of voting for a GOP impression of one.

Moreno did rally her supporters today in a precinct walk that covered a lot of ground. Her supporters will be out in full force the next two weekends as well.
