Norby under fire from the left…and the right
Orange County Supervisor Chris Norby is having a rought time of late. The solid conservative was taken to task by OC Register columnist Steven Greenhut recently after he endorsed RINO Lynn Daucher and her comrade in arms Marty Siminoff for their respective legislative races. I agree with Greenhut – Norby undermined his reputation when he backed these two, as they favor the type of eminent domain abuses that Norby has always opposed.
Now Norby is facing a union-backed liberal, La Habra Council Member Rose Espinoza, and while she is having a tough time raising money, that isn’t stopping her from going on the attack. Today’s Times reports that Espinoza is slamming Norby for his stance on redevelopment (he didn’t help her to bring a new Costco to La Habra); failing to fix a park that was built over a landfill; and fighting bilingual ballots.
I thought that Espinoza was going to get a lot of money from the OC public employee’s union, but they seem to be fixated on stopping OC Treasurer John Moorlach’s effort to join Norby on the Board of Supervisors. The demographics in Norby’s district have shifted over the last five years in favor of Espinoza, but I expect Norby to defeat her. I hope however that he will stop endorsing liberal Republicans. That is no way to thank his supporters!
Art, Why don’t you admit what some of us have known for some time. Kris Norby is a RINO/Squish when he feel just a tiny bit of political heat. I’ll just add that he is an odd bird..(nicest way I can say it)
I have always been a big fan of Norby. I helped him defeat Coad by bringing anti-PLA contractors to his campaign, and I also contacted anti-airport activists on his behalf. His endorsement of Daucher was disconcerting, but then again, most of the OC GOP machine has jumped on the Daucher RINO bandwagon.
The one good bit of news is that Norby is very enthused about helping John Moorlach to get elected to the Board of Supervisors. Great idea! Moorlach won’t sell us out to the unions the way Bill Campbell and ultra-squish Jim Silva did.
I admire loyalty Art so if Norby is your guy, stick with him. I still think he is a sell out on the Daucher endorsement though.
Don’t overlook Norbys endorsement of Jim Silva!
Also what is going on with Moorlach? Why hasn’t he endorsed anyone in the 67th?
Don’t these guys have any principals anymore. They are so afraid of their big time donors when they should be more afraid of the voters who can actually vote in their district. It is very disppointing as a voter here in the 67th.
Art,
Thanks for bring up the Norby/Espinoza race. I appreciate the opportunity to point out some flaws in Norby
