Solorio comes clean about his travel
I received an email from Jose Solorio today, regarding his wife’s expenses as noted on his recent campaign financial report. Solorio, a council member in Santa Ana, is running for the 69th Assembly District.
It turns out that the item in question was reimbursement for travel incurred by Solorio, not his wife. Thanks Jose for clarifying this point!
In related news, a little pajarito told me that Solorio may be cutting deals with prominent community leaders, including Republicans, offering them spots on city commissions in return for their support for his assembly campaign. I have not verified this, but it is nothing new. This kind of stuff has been going on in Santa Ana for years.
Did he produce receipts?
Did he not already explain it as his wife paying for the transportation of students and union members to man phone banks for him?
as posted:
The $1,170 campaign travel expense was used to ferry Valley students to and from the SAEA offices. Solorio’s wife, a Valley teacher, heavily recruited Valley students to help phone bank for the anti Prop 74,75 & 76 campaigns on the Nov. ballot.
Overarching questions are ..
did she recruit during class time and how were these students rewarded for their time?

Maybe he just decided to change his story after Martin Ludlow got busted.
Martini Republic is not Jose Solorio, so lay off. An explanation has been given, and it all makes sense. Obviously you are an Alvarez hack trying to stir the pot. Go back and hang out with your fellow White Shirts
da man,
Perhaps – but receipts would clear this up once and for all.
The inaccurate reporting could be a mistake. Doesn’t Jose sign the report? If so, didn’t he read what he was signing?
da man — who or what are the white shirts?
Art’s suggestion that receipts would clear this up is a reasonable solution.
Solorio’s campaign first listed the expenses as:
The $1,170 campaign travel expense was used to ferry Valley students to and from the SAEA offices. Solorio’s wife, a Valley teacher, heavily recruited Valley students to help phone bank for the anti Prop 74,75 & 76 campaigns on the Nov. ballot.
Now the Solorio campaign claims it was travel for his wife.
Would Jose not know if his wife traveled? Or to where? Or why?
