Alvarez finally does something right, but it is too little, too late
Santa Ana City Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez was apparently the only member of the council to oppose a horrible deal that saw the city pay a Honda dealership $4.2 million for acquiring a land lease that in actuality cost half that much. However, the stupid deal was voted in by the other council members.
The city also paid the dealership another $800,000 plus they are considering paying an additional $1 million in legal fees. Is this the same city that is always crying about not having enough money to pay for the lights in the public parks, and the expensive medians that were a pet project of City Manager Dave Ream? Oh, that’s right, this is redevelopment money, so it doesn’t count, right? What a joke.
Let’s keep an eye on the Santa Ana council members, sans Alvarez. Don’t be surprised to see them in new Hondas soon. Read more about this fiasco at http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/opinion/commentary/editorials/article_942470.php.
