Ackerman goes public with his bad decision
Martin Wisckol writes about State Senator Dick Ackerman’s ridiculous choice to go with Lynn Daucher instead of Van Tran, for the 34th State Senate District, in his column today (http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/news/atoz/article_915366.php). Wisckol does a great job of summarizing the story, which has been a big item in the O.C. blogosphere this past week. I love that he describes the 34th as being “heavily Vietnamese.” Yes it is, which only serves to make Ackerman’s apparent endorsement of Daucher look even worse.
Ackerman is not being cautious at all in this effort – he is actively calling media members, according to Wisckol. I guess the gloves are off. However, as has been stated in many blogs recently, Tran has some big hitters on his side, including Congressman Dana Rohrabacher, and past California Republican Chairmen Michael Schroeder and Shawn Steel. Yes, Ackerman will waste California Republican Senate funds on Daucher, but Tran will have a lot of money to play with as well.
No one seems to know what Tran did to anger Ackerman. Who cares? I don’t care if Tran ran Ackerman’s poodle over. Tran is the better candidate, period. Daucher is an accidental politician who never would have won her asembly seat in the first place without the open primary, which allowed Democrats to vote for her in our primary. Thank God the open primary was overturned, but what a tragedy that the results of that abomination were allowed to stand. Now, at long last, Tran is in a great position to finally end Daucher’s career. He might also end Ackerman’s career. Few conservatives will shed any tears for him at this point. Whatever goodwill Ackerman had with us is fritting away as he insists on carrying Daucher’s water.
