Bill Simon endorses Jim Gibson

I spoke to Vista School Board member Jim Gibson today about his campaign for the 73rd State Assembly District. He was quite excited about the fact that both Bill Simon and Tom McClintock have endorsed him, as has conservative radio host Jim Dobson. Those are huge endorsements for a guy that many have depicted as a dark horse in his race against local councilperson Mimi Walters and Orange County Supervisor Tom Wilson. Gibson was also endorsed recently by local CRA units and both the Orange County and San Diego County Young Republicans. You can find out more about him at www.electgibson.com.

While Walters and Wilson both have loads of cash, Gibson seems to be prevailing in the trenches. His campaign manager also used to work for the termed out legislator, Pat Bates, who now represents the 73rd. When I ran into Bates at a holiday party in December, she told me that she will be running for office again in the near future. My sources tell me that she will run for Wilson’s seat on the Board of Supervisors if he prevails for the 73rd.

Lastly, for those of you of the Libertarian persuasion, Andy Favor is your candidate in the 73rd Assembly District. You can read all about him at http://andyfavor.com/.
