Weekend Open Thread: ‘Trump Out of OC’ Rally at Lido Isle!

.

.

.

We already had a Weekend Open Thread posted, but then Trump came along and hijacked it by coming to OC to raise “campaign” money for his post-election life in Russia!  That WOT will be repurposed.

10 a.m., Oct. 19.  Park at 3434 Via Lido, Newport Beach.  Meet at Newport Blvd. & Via Lido.

Details:  Trump and his wealthy mega donors are hosting a private luncheon in support of his failing reelection campaign. After infecting most of the West Wing, the Super-Spreader-In-Chief has set his eyes on the West Coast, specifically Newport Beach.

Join us for a peaceful, and loud, demonstration reminding Trump that he lost Orange County in 2016 and 2018–we’re making sure he knows he’s going 0 for 2 in Nixon country come November 3rd.  Park at  3434 Via Lido, Newport Beach. Be a hero, wear a mask.

[OJB notes: this is Lido Marina Village, roughly across Via Lido from the Lido Theater, and their parking structure does charge for parking — and they charge you a whole lot if you lose your ticket!  Street parking is, as I recall, scarce in this area — but if people dare to shuttle there there is at least one ample free parking lot about a mile’s walk or along PCH (east of  the north side of Superior/Balboa and PCH, and up the hill on your right), and there are probably others.]

Hosted by:

[OJB adds: wear colorful masks (or top masks off with colorful bandanas), sear fun hats, social distance, and be funny rather than crude!  (Those in at-risk groups, skip it!)  Remember: he’ll be ready to heckle you and put you on the national news — but they won’t edit out your signs!]

This is your weekend Open Thread.  Talk about that, or anything you’d like, within reasonable bounds of dignity, decorum, and discretion.  A be careful out there!

About Greg Diamond

Somewhat verbose attorney, semi-disabled and semi-retired, residing in northwest Brea. Occasionally ran for office against jerks who otherwise would have gonr unopposed. Got 45% of the vote against Bob Huff for State Senate in 2012; Josh Newman then won the seat in 2016. In 2014 became the first attorney to challenge OCDA Tony Rackauckas since 2002; Todd Spitzer then won that seat in 2018. Every time he's run against some rotten incumbent, the *next* person to challenge them wins! He's OK with that. Corrupt party hacks hate him. He's OK with that too. He does advise some local campaigns informally and (so far) without compensation. (If that last bit changes, he will declare the interest.) His daughter is a professional campaign treasurer. He doesn't usually know whom she and her firm represent. Whether they do so never influences his endorsements or coverage. (He does have his own strong opinions.) But when he does check campaign finance forms, he is often happily surprised to learn that good candidates he respects often DO hire her firm. (Maybe bad ones are scared off by his relationship with her, but they needn't be.)
