There are those who say that the Minutemen are not racist. But have a look at the video above. You will see Minutemen side by side with new-Nazis from the American Third Position, at a demonstration in San Juan Capistrano.
Who, you might be wondering, are these Third Position characters? Well, here is their mission statement: “The American Third Position exists to represent the political interests of White Americans, because no one else will.”

The Minutemen in the video above are allies of Santa Ana’s Lupe Moreno, who was recently honored by our wayward Councilman David Benavides.
The video above was shot by my friend Naui, who also shot the now infamous video exposing how the Minutemen, under Moreno’s guidance, took over the Santa Ana Independence Day Event.
Thanks again to Naui for catching these haters in action – and now all of you who think the Minutemen are not haters know better. They are indeed racists and they are quite comfortable in the company of the haters from the Third Position.

Well, he honored them, didn’t he? That is all you need to know. The trade workers that were there on Monday took note…and sources tell me that the O.C. Register is now looking at the Benavides Hatergate scandal too!

Councilmember Benavides was fully aware of Lupe Moreno’s involvement and membership in a known “hate group”. He watched the video and then told his colleagues that the video had been edited to make Gary Hynds look bad. Despite all of this he chose to forge ahead and honor her and her supporters.
Honoring her helps her legitimize her activities. He aided and abetted her by doing so. That’s tantamount to endorsing her agenda.

That’s just wishful thinking on your part. You still haven’t proven that he endorses her positions. Or the Minutemen’s.

You can’t seperate Lupe’s politics from this. David chose to honor her and only you and the haters are defending him.

You may be right that I have not proven that but I have planted a seed of doubt in many peoples minds and that is going to prove quite troublesome for David in the future. The fact that he is even going to have to explain why he honored Lupe Moreno is going to be a stumbling block for him.
I am willing to concede that he will be reelected to the city council but I am positive that his chances of winning the 69th Assembly District seat are all but over. His dreams of Sacramento died on Monday night and he has nobody to blame but himself.
Sean is right. Benavides just tanked any chance he had at Solorio’s seat.
If you think this little made-up, implication-filled smear campaign is going to affect Benavides future, you’re more clueless than I thought.

Really? Well, now our Benavides story is in both the OC Weekly and the OC Register. We were credited by both papers for breaking the story. How is that working out for Benavides? I am guessing that he is no longer underestimating us…
