I’m going to try not to post too many videos, but this Colbert from the other night had me laughing harder than Tropic Thunder… so I just HAD to share it. Especially around the 1:30 point, when Rudy Giuliani expresses his incredulity and contempt that anyone could seriously call themselves a community organizer. Hey, aren’t some of you people community organizers? Art, Thomas, Cook, Lomeli, Larry, etc?

What does it say about the state of our Democracy, that the best political commentary is coming from Comedy Central. With the exception of Keith Olberman the MSM is a wasteland.

I thought it was weird when Rudy kept laughing at his own lines – even though no one else was. Frankly he scares me – the guy has fascist tendencies when it comes to civil liberties.
Thompson did a much better job speaking at the RNC, as did Palin. And McCain sounds weird and high-pitched. His voice doesn’t sound presidential. He is a hero, no doubt, but Obama and Barr sound more presidential than he does.
Hard to imagine life without Colbert and Jon Stewart, who was pretty damn funny himself on Thursday night. Samantha B’s interviews were classic!
I am struggling SO hard to stand in the shoes of my Republican friends and figure out how they can, with a straight face, support these grandstanding, prevaricating, insincere goobers. Is it genetic? Why can’t I see it?
Well, for now I’ll just have to thank God for the brilliant comedians who stave off tears of frustration by properly mocking the buffoonery of Rudy Giuliani.
Rudy is actually starting to lose human form. I predict that in a couple of years he won’t even be a biped anymore.
With the exception of Bush, nobody has leveraged 9/11 for greater personal gain, and has actually done less than El Duce.

Community Activists. I get the impression that this means people who take action in their communities – the soccer coaches, the board members of the local YMCA, School Site Council Reps, youth pastors. You could maybe even extend it to include all those selfless people who helped others during the madness and chaos immediately following the 9-11 attacks.
Community Activists are NOT Lobbyists – trying to gain personally for advocating certain positions. Community Activists were called to mission as part of a 1,000 points of light – a call that HW Bush put out back in 1988 (20 years ago).Community Activists work locally to care for their community and its members.
What a snob. He did NO ONE a favor by taking a swipe at our local heroes with his snark.
Rudy is largley useless period.

The politicians like it best when we are all divided and distracted. It is always nice to find common ground with others that we normally don’t see eye-to-eye with.
I don’t really follow Rudy G. But this Cobert piece really captured a not-so-nice-a-guy. Cobert had some visuals there, where he and Rudy looked like mocking mirrored profiles -with their jaws set out showing off their teeth in exaggerated laughter. Classic.
Art, I agree that Palin delivered her speech well, my question; can she write one? Obama can write and deliver. I don’t know, maybe it’s a Britney Spears versus Bob Dylan sort of thing.
Another thing nobody’s mentioned here: her speech may have been razor-sharp witty, but it was chock-ful of demonstrable lies. Anyone want me to list them on this blog somewhere?

Larry thinks she will be vetted, yeah, thats a guy on vacation. Vern, you and Sarah post as many videos as you like. I have enjoyed every one and they often inspire lots of comments. I loved this Colbert. I record every show of Stewart and Cobert but find I only have time for Stewart during breakfast so lots of times Cobert gets deleted by the dvr at the bottom of the que.
I’d like to see the Winships commenting here as I like their train of thought I just didnt ever find their blogs comment provoking (and I’ll comment on almost anything). Maybe they are out traveling the world now too.
