Well, somebody has to do Bankhead’s job since he has adamantly refused to do it himself – for almost 25 years.

The impeding cold streak was an omen of things to come.
Today, Jane Rands, former State Assembly candidate under the Green Party banner, has filed papers to replace council Precambrian holdover, Don Bankhead.
Green Party?………. Hmmmmm
She certainly looks like oversexed female on the run, barefoot, from the Rajneeshpuram, Oregon.
Some saltpeter will fix that for you, Stanislav.
You probably think that pumpkins look like oversexed females though, don’t you?
Is it too much to ask you to judge her by something other than her sexuality? (Forget it, who am I kidding?)
“something other than her sexuality?’…….. Hmmmmm
Green Liberal?
One who needs $3,000 annually government payed for condoms?
How could I?
Every liberal cult is based on sex for an entertainment if they have no TV, electricity, cars and shoes.
Welcome to the Ubama Lumba land.
Putting aside the racism at the end: did you mean to apply your “$3,000 annually government payed for condoms” to Jane in particular? I’m giving you a chance to deny it well enough that she wouldn’t take action, because as offensive (and wrong) as it is, it’s more nuts than that.
Why do you give Fiala the time of day?
Tell him to go back to NSA – where his crazy rants are appreciated.
Honestly, skally, it’s because silence implies consent. Vern does not choose to censor comments within broad bounds, which I think is fine — but I think that that puts some responsibility on site management to note for the record that certain comments here should not be construed as acceptable to site management. Sometimes I rise to the bait, sometimes I don’t. I think that when Stanislaw gets rococo with the sexism and racism, “more speech” in response is the right remedy.
I censored a few of them last night … and I woulda censored the negro jew bell one except you responded to it!
Censor them both if you’d like (and trash this one!) although that one from Stanley might be worth keeping as a museum specimen.
“NSA – where his crazy rants are appreciated”………. Hmmmmm
sillywag, I do not comment at “National Security Agency” blog.
Soon you will learn what Obama, Bell, Wright trojka is all about. … HaHaHaHaHa
This is where I’d like to see Greens focus their energy more…on local government spots.
I like to see the greens focus (waste) their energy on useless causes as well.
Negro Obama hates Jews….. Hahaha

Cant wait when Jesw start war with Iran and Obama let them hanging dry… HaHaHaHa.
Hahahaha? Did the death of Breitbard push you over the edge?
In reply to Fiala – Greg said: “Did the death of Breitbard push you over the edge?”
Greg – Are you not familiar with Fiala?
He went over the edge years ago – he was born over the edge – like outer-fucking space over the edge.
I shall concede the point. He’s just been more … florid … lately.
And pardon the typo: of course it’s “Breitbart” with a final “t”. De mortuis nil nisi spelling bonum.
I hear that there’s a Democrat running for the same seat, which probably dooms them both if there’s also a Republican. Damn, why can’t we be more organized about this? I’m supporting Jane, she’s better than almost any local Dem I know, and the Bushala crowd respects her too.
And if she doesn’t get in in June, maybe in November… to Sharon’s old seat.
They were going to be running for different seats — then Doug Chaffee jumped into the race, and then there were four.
If one wins, or if neither wins, it’s still good practice for November. Both Jane and Paula Williams are first-time candidates. I look forward to their having friendly debates; they’re both good people (but I think that people will see, as they get to know her experiences, why I’d support Paula.)
I predict that they’ll be cross-endorsing (or the incumbent will endorse the challenger for another seat) in November. But who knows?
Jane’s been active in Fullerton for several years. I’ve never heard of Paula Williams. How long has she lived in Fullerton?
Since 2006, although she has worked and usually lived in Orange County for over 20 years. She’s been active in Democratic Party politics, so you would not necessarily know of her.
Well, It’s going to be tough selling somebody who has no experience in City issues and who has had no presence in the Thomas killing protests. Jane’s done both.
Be that as it may. But you’ll find that she has other relevant experience that would be very useful to Fullerton residents. By November, I hope to see them both on the Council.
So why did Greg Sebourn decide to run for the same seat as Jane?
Feel free to ask him.
I just did (via e-mail)
It’s very disappointing. Jane and Greg were the two candidates (that I know) who I wanted to see win. (I don’t know these Democrats)
Sebourn sez (combined from two e-mails he sent me) :
“I consider Jane a friend even though we have different philosophies. She is smart and does her homework which makes her a strong candidate and I wish we weren’t in the same race.
“Unfortunately, I have it on good authority that Doug Chaffee will be filing for McKinley’s seat today. Doug is well-funded, came within a few dozen votes of beating McKinley in 2010, and has a stronger following which will make it a tougher race.
“The best part of all of this is that Fullerton voters will have the best opportunity they’ve had in decades to place reform-minded individuals on the dais. This is the voters’ chance to have fresh faces with fresh ideas.
“I look forward to the race and hearing some of Jane’s solutions.”
You’ll like Paula too, Vern. I’d love to see the three of them commit to no character attacks (that means getting IEs not to do it either, ahem) and have some real debates. If I’m right that with this lineup Bankhead gets retained, all three are auditioning for November.
So is Barry Levinson in or not? I presume that everyone but Ackermanites would prefer Chaffee to McKinley, so I think that McKinley’s goose is cooked in the recall either way — UNLESS it looks like Chaffee might lose to someone who makes swing voters risk-averse.
(Sudden thought: whatever happened to Roland Chi?)
Let’s move all this conversation over to your new piece. I have SOME news…
+1.
Well, I probably would like Paula, and I’m sure she’s a good Democrat, but I’m sympathetic to the idea that a councilmember should have a record of being active and involved in their community.
Quirk-Silva v. Norby! Tony Bushala turns a blind eye to Sharon on his recall, even though she’s as guilty as the rest of them as far as the police, the water tax, etc., and kisses her butt on his blog. Now she runs against his pal Norby. What will Bushala do? Who will get the big sloppy FFFF kisses and who will be the Enemy of the State?
The recall was ostensibly largely based on opposition to the Council’s actions regarding the killing of Kelly Thomas; lumping Sharon into the recall, given her reaction, would have discredited it.
I presume that FFFF will support Norby. I presume that Sharon presumes the same. The problem for Norby is that Sharon is not a political novice like my nice-guy friends John McMurray and Esiquio Uballe — and much of the district is not favorable to him. Sharon wouldn’t give up the Council seat if she didn’t think she was in good shape to win AD-65 — and as soon as the state party figures it out, she’ll have money.
*How can anyone ever replace a Don Bankhead? Isn’t he an important part of the sidewalk on Fullerton Road? We are sure his name is on the Fullerton Walk of Fame someplace. Heck back in ’94 he even served on the OCTA Transportation Committee with me. Maybe they will put up a plack with his name on it…..where the old Hillside Drive-in once stood. How about a statue in a very small corner of Amerige Park? How about naming a Burrito for him and put that info on a sign in front of the Office Building where Dick Ackerman once had his Assembly Office? The options are truly endless. But of course all of that goes right out the window…..IF….he doesn’t get Recalled!
rw
You can take all that to the Bankhead, Ron.
