I know this isn’t a local story and I’m in the middle of writing up a post for the upcoming petition drive for the “Regulate Marijuana Like Wine” initiative (scheduled for the fall 2012 election), but I couldn’t resist.
Here’s some proof that the D.A.R.E. program “works.” Remember kids….“PUBLIC SAFETY FIRST”
Here’s your tax dollars at work fighting the “War on Drugs”!!!!

Cop pulling DARE trailer charged with DUI
SALEM, IN (WAVE) – A police officer is facing drunk driving charges in Washington County, Indiana and the arresting officers say he was carrying a message about drug abuse education at the time.
On Wednesday night around 10:30 p.m. Scott and Tina Robbins were just about to go to sleep.
“It was so loud,” said Mrs. Robbins. “I was out of the bed on the floor within a spilt second.”
They heard a crash right outside their window. “I grabbed the phone and called 911,” said Mr. Robbins. “The damage to the truck and the way it looked wrapped in the tree, he had to be traveling so fast.”
Indiana State Police say 38-year-old John Newcomb, a Seymour Police Officer, was driving a pick up truck through Salem on Main Street.
“He side swiped a vehicle that was legally parked on the side of the roadway,” said Sgt. Jerry Goodin, ISP. “After striking that vehicle, he went on and struck a tree.”
It didn’t take long for investigators to suspect alcohol was involved.
“He was sitting on the wall out of the vehicle, holding his head,” said Mrs. Robbins. But that wasn’t the only thing that stood out to the Robbins, it was the trailer Newcomb was pulling.
“It said DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) and Seymour Police Department- which made me think he was a police officer,” said Mr. Robbins.
Not only a police officer, but according to the Seymour Police Department website, he is the School Resource Officer, responsible for seven schools, acting as a mentor and providing students with a role model. It even states that he conducts lectures on narcotics and alcohol and their effects on driving.
“He’s not setting a good example for kids that see this,” said Mr. Robbins.
Newcomb, who refused medical treatment after the crash, is charged with operating while intoxicated and was booked in the Washington County Jail.
Newcomb had a dog in the truck with him. He told police the dog distracted him and that’s what caused the crash. We are still waiting to hear back from Seymour Police about the current status of his job.
“We are still waiting to hear back from Seymour Police about the current status of his job.”…….. Hmmmm
Obviously he is back on the job giving tickets for DUI.
This is America Fawkes.
“He told police the dog distracted him and that’s what caused the crash.”
Leave it to a cop to use a elementary school excuse. Blame it on the dog.
Good thing this didn’t happen in Orange County. T-Rack and IAD would have swept it under the rug.
The DARE program is another litte scam the police establishment uses to keep people worried about drugs, so they can continue to get funding and overtime. Their spokespeople continue to talk about marijuana as a dangerous drug that needs to be suppressed. If it were legalized, well then they’d have to go and actually work on cases involving real criminals.
“Their spokespeople (D.A.R.E.) continue to talk about marijuana as a dangerous drug that needs to be suppressed.”
So do MasterPlannedistan’s biggest D.A.R.E. cheerleaders: Dr. No (aka Dr. Steven Choi), Spanky and Mayor Sukhee Kang. The D.A.R.E. program is so entrenched in the public schools that the Irvine USD board refuses to listen to parents who wish to introduce a drug education curriculum that focuses more on harm reduction and is taught by health professionals. Not Barney Fife, Cletus, Enos or Roscoe P. Coltrane.
“The D.A.R.E. program is so entrenched in the public schools that the Irvine USD board refuses to listen to parents[…]”……. Hmmmm
In the police state it is the police not parents who will raise your children! Please make note of it Fawkes.
In addition, the D.A.R.E. is good for COPs to get sex with minor underage chicks.
The Wildwod Weed and Reefer Madness have been overplayed no doubt. Of course the real issues are: When the cop pulls into the Grammar School parking lot with the K-9 Dog – Rin-Tin-Tin, whoa…….the 2nd graders have a vision of badass that will stay with them forever. 20% of the boys all want to become cops when they grow up. 20% of the girls want to marry the wanna be cops. Meanwhile, 20% of the boys want to grow to become drug dealers and 20% of the girls want be live-ins with drug dealers and become porn queens. Well, maybe we amp it up a bit….but the cool thing is that
the other 60% never do drugs in their lives….until their family doctor winds up prescribing something very addictive that cost more than illegal drugs!
Obviously, we support DARE……far superior to doing nothing but let little Ralphie supply reds, whites and green to the entire 2nd Grade Class….having the little kids, steal money out of their mothers purses to make the buy.
