It’s “Business as Usual” at the US Chamber of Commerce

Perhaps the most anti-consumer organization in the United States is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  This organization spends millions each election cycle to promote the interests of big corporations—irrespective of their wrongdoing—at the expense of the consumer and the taxpayer.

Catastrophic environmental destruction (as BP in the Gulf of Mexico)—no problem.  Financial disaster, then having the gall to demand a bailout by the American taxpayer (as AIG)—no problem.  Supporting candidates who outsource jobs and pad their own pockets (as Carly Fiorina)—no problem.

The Chamber of Commerce believes that people who are victims of “white collar” (i.e., corporate) crime—defective products, unsafe foods, false and misleading advertising—do not have a right to their day in court.  On the other hand, the Chamber believes big business has the right to use the courts to block government from enforcing laws that protect the consumer.

Now these Chamber of Commerce hypocrites are taking foreign money—money being funneled into their coffers from foreign banks and investment firms to promote their nefarious agenda, and to fight political candidates who are not in lock-step with their political objectives.

And closer to home?  As anyone who runs for political office soon learns, it is almost impossible to be elected without the “blessing” of the local Chamber of Commerce, usually in collusion with the big poobahs of the dominant political party. Little wonder that the special interests control virtually all levels of government today.
