Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez just released a very strange video, in Spanish. It starts out with her driving what looks like a real clunker, going Lord knows where.
Then all of a sudden she is blabbing in front of a fruity Mai Tai looking drink.
Then she says, in the narrative, that her dad used to tell her that it doesn’t matter what work you do but rather how much effort you put into it. Considering the fact that Sanchez has only seen one of her proposed bills become a law, and it had to do with naming a post office, I can see why she might talk about how the actual work you do doesn’t matter.
Then she talks about how she has always talked to her community, but the images that accompany that part of the video are of Asians! How weird is that? She follows that up by saying that her voice is independent.
She closes by saying that she will always do the best for our families and she will work for everyone, except presumably for those wily Vietnamese who are “trying to take her district.”
Does Sanchez really expect us to believe that she drives a clunker? Really?
Check out the video below. Independent Congressional candidate Cecilia Iglesias speaks much better Spanish than Sanchez, and she appears sincere, where Sanchez looks and sounds like an airhead. I love that Iglesias talks about how our politicians are disconnected from us…
What is this? It does not get any better than this…Loretta is making a statement that Latinos drive junk cars!! Why did she choose to drive a junk car when she drives a luxury car or let alone a limo….
She has gone so low!!
Don’t be fooled by Loretta, she is a two faced and it is clearly shown by her insults to all communities (starting with the Vietnamese, how she degraded them and now she is insulting the Latinos).
I will vote for Cecilia, there is no doubt about!

I’m not defending Loretta, but this message has been crafted to appeal to voters who are predominantly male and between a certain age, race, and class.
The truck symbolizes masculinity to some degree. It also symbolizes class. By showing her driving a Toyota pickup through a neighborhood, that implies she is going to work.
Notice that there is a Spanish language subtitle beneath her name throughout the entire length of the commercial mentioning she is working for all of us?
Notice also the race, sex, and age of the people she is interacting with? Also she is depicted working while she is relaxing over a drink?
The purpose is to make average voters in this predominantly working class and middle income district identify with Loretta.
Here is the message:
She drives a pickup like we do; she goes to work every day in our community; she’s working all the time; she’s talking to people like us; she is one of us; re-elect her.
If this commercial showed Loretta driving a Jaguar through a Santa Ana neighborhood and meeting people, most voters would tune out.
It’s a very clever commercial.
Yes, be real Loretta….you know that if you were caught driving this red pick-up truck in your neighborhood of Paos Verdes Estates, the police will pull you over just to check who you are!!
STOP INSULTING THE POOR WORKING LATINOS!! Where are you trying to go with this add?
You are making us more angry and will not be voting for!
Que hipocrita eres!!!!!!!!!! Let me guess, you probably will need a person to translate!
Lorretta lives the vida loca con a fancy sports car, high fashion, and jewels.
I’d like to dedicate this song to mi Congresista caliente!

I actually saw Sanchez hop into a Toyota truck identical to the one in the video after she left a meeting I attended at her District Office in Garden Grove several years ago.
The reason why I remember it is because I then owned a Toyota truck of the exact same make and model and noticed the similarities between mine and the one she drove.
Most of the time, however, her staffers drive her around town in much more expensive vehicles. I’ve actually seen her being shuttled around Santa Ana in a Jaguar.
That being said, the commercial is typical election-year gimmicry politicians use to manipulate the electorate. The same script is used over and over and over again.
It wouldn’t surprise me if some right-wing Republican Congressman in Alabama is airing a commercial using a similar narrative, but driving a Chevy instead of a Toyota.
.
Mexicans drive chevys! And landscapers have nicer trucks than that!
I can’t wait for her appeal to the youth video showing her cruising down Bristol!!
Irish people like a horse and cart…. After a few times at the pub the horse knows the way back home!
🙂
@ Michelle Q:
that was a great line LOL!!!!
So if there is a sobriety test, who gets it, the people or the horse?
peace
I was not kidding! My granda had a horse named Rosey! After a night at the pub, Rosey would take my granda home!
Lol 🙂
oh and the rosary hanging down from the rear view mirror! love it! haha
I noticed that too. A very subtle appeal to Catholic voters. Now if the religious symbolism had been more overt, this commercial would have the effect off turning off voters who are not Catholic.
I hate to break this to everyone, but thats been her car (when she was’nt driving the “LOANER T-BIRD) for years.
It sat parked in front of her WFP home a lot, and sometimes neighbors would move it for her on Monday’s to avoid the sweeper on weekends that she did’nt come home.
As a testement to her frquent flier account, they dod’nt move it often, for she DOES come back to California NEARLY EVERY WEEK!
Like I said, I’ve seen Loretta hop into a Toyota truck identical to the one in the video.
But I’ve also seen her being shuttled around the district in other vehicles as well.
And she does live in Santa Ana despite wisecracks I’ve made about the home she owns in Palos Verdes Estates.
kenlaysnotdead,
I have heard that now from several folks. But will the voters believe that? What does she drive in DC, I wonder?
Thats a good point Art.
I am sure there she does’nt need a car, because KRAFT FOODS (insert any multi national conglomerate) has her shuttled around in a town car.
The only thing missing on the car was the frilly hanging curtains!
lol!!!!
I laught so much, I nearly wee weed!
Why do they need this commercial in Spanish. If they can’t speak English then they shouldn’t be allowed to vote.
what is more interesting is that you need to speak English to get a green card! If you dont speak English, most likely you cannot vote!
I bet in Santa Ana there is a lot of voter fraud of Illegal immigrants voting!
