Scott Rasmussen just released his latest polling data of 1,000 likely voters that shows “Voters Now Trust Republicans More On All 10 Key Issues.”
Voters now trust Republicans more than Democrats on all 10 of the important issues regularly tracked by Rasmussen Reports.
The GOP has consistently been trusted on most issues for months now, but in July they held the lead on only nine of the key issues.
Republicans lead Democrats 47% to 39% on the economy, which remains the most important issue to voters.
But for the first time in months, Republicans now hold a slight edge on the issues of government ethics and corruption, 40% to 38%.
Government ethics and corruption have been second only to the economy in terms of importance to voters over the past year.
Republicans hold a 52% to 36% lead over Democrats on the issue of taxes.
Voters trust the GOP over Democrats by a 49% to 37% margin on national security and the War on Terror but give the GOP just a 43% to 40% edge on the war in Iraq.
On the issue of immigration, Republicans are trusted more by a 44% to 35% margin.
Despite a judge’s ruling putting key provisions of Arizona’s new immigration law on hold, most U.S. voters still favor passage of such a law in their own state.
On health care, voters now trust Republicans slightly more – by a 48% to 40% margin. In June, the GOP held a 51% to 40% edge on this issue. Fifty-six percent (56%) of voters continue to favor repeal of the national health care bill, with 46% who Strongly Favor it.
The parties remain close on the issue of education, with the GOP holding a statistically insignificant 41% to 40% edge.
When it comes to the issue of Social Security, voters again give the Republicans the edge, this time by a 44% to 38% margin.
Republicans hold a nine-point lead over Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot for the week ending Sunday, August 22, 2010.
Incumbent members of Congress don’t exactly get a vote of confidence from their constituents. Just 27% of voters think their representative in Congress is the best possible person for the job, down six points from November of last year. Only 37% believe their local congressional representative deserves reelection, compared to 42% who felt that way way last fall.
Sixty percent (60%) of voters say most members of Congress don’t care what their constituents think. Most voters continue to believe it would be better for the country if the majority of Congress is thrown out this November,

If this is true it’s obvious that voters are now afflicted with Stockholm Syndrome, in which they identify with their captors. Trusting Republicans on Social Security? What the hell’s with that?
That’s about like trusting Republicans with your Fairgrounds. Yeah, I’ll be going there. The next two months at least.
Rapscalion.
Didn’t you take the call from Scott? I voted 13 times. Rasmussen is one of the better pollsters in the USA
The Republicans are so funny, when the economy is good you say let’s all celebrate “Cinco de Mayo, my brothers” but when the economy is down “it’s all your fault, you damn immigrant”. When most Americans (with Latin America roots) go to the polls this November we will remember that the GOP has gone on a nationwide rant in proposing and passing several anti-immigration legislation (that continue to fail in our US Courts) and have continue to blame the immigrant for the flat economy or worse. We will remember who stands with us and who stands against us, so trying to stop it now is somewhat funny, but go ahead, you will not change our minds.
Plus the more radical of the GOP are now attacking our Constitution and our Bill of Rights, in a misguided attempt to garner some much needed votes, they really are fools, and leading the GOP towards obscurity because they are no longer a party of ideas, just of empty suits. Your hate made you do it, in November; you will reap what you have sown. I wonder what Abraham Lincoln would say today about the GOP, he unlike you was a man of ideas.
Polling has absolutely no validity. The only people that can be reached directly are 65+. Anyone younger uses caller ID and/or voice mail – and without a cell phone directory random calls are worthless.
Voters 65+ trust Republicans on all major issues. LOL.
Even on Social Security, because they know the GOP can’t destroy it THAT quickly. Hey geezers, think of your kids and grandkids!
Vern, I know it seems that way, but actually in many conversations I’ve had with older folks (and I’m getting there) many are much more progressive than you’d think. I have found, especially, that senior women are very concerned about abortion rights, because they remember the bad old days.
Otherwise, I think we’re just circling the drain in the good old USA.
yeah, many of my best progressive friends are elderly… I could name off dozens of great elderly activists in this county. I was just going off of what Morrissey said, and statistically they ARE more “conservative.”
So we may have a more hopeful future, between them shuffling off the mortal coil and our Latino friends getting their citizenship and their voices…
Larry.
While I agree that the younger generation, and don’t ask me to define it, use cell phones where the numbers may not be in ANY pollsters bag.
If that be true than any NY Times, CNN, MSNBC, NBC and CBS polling favoring Dem’s should be discarded for the same reasons.
OK.
Actually I consider a poll like that to be interesting, maybe something I’d mention in the course of a post, but not newsworthy enough to justify a whole post. Just me…
Brother Vern. Polling data is a very useful tool, for all sides. Not to single out one here’s a source with multiple ratings of Congress. I will see if I can find a progressive report to offset Rasmussen to make our readers happy that we offer fair and balanced coverage:

Whenever polls are brought into the equation ….I always defer to the poll masters @ 538
which delivered this little snippet………
Putting the [R] in [R]asmussen?
from the article,…”Personally, I don’t think you get very far looking at who conducted the poll — instead, I prefer to look at who paid for it.”
http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2010/01/putting-r-in-rasmussen.html
First three paragraphs:
ThinkProgress has discovered, by way of a cool new invention known as The Internet, that Scott Rasmussen has in fact been conducing polling on behalf of partisan clients, in particular the RNC and the Bush re-election campaign, both during 2003-04.
This appears to contradict all but the most absurdly lawyerly readings of a statement on Rasmussen Reports’ website, which reads: “Scott [Rasmussen] maintains his independence and has never been a campaign pollster or consultant for candidates seeking office.” The statement was also repeated word-for-word in a Politico article without any qualification.
OK, so we’ll score this The Internet 1, Politico’s fact-checking department 0, and Rasmussen a negative something for posting a blatantly misleading statement on their website…
Larry,
I love when you post things like this because I get to read the typical liberal response – the polls are rigged. Nothing to see here folks, move along. I can’t wait for November.
