"Mikey" takes a back seat at the OC GOP

This has been an awful week for OC GOP machine overlord Mike Schroeder. His effort to deny Erwin Chemerinsky a job as Dean of the new UCI Law School fell apart as UCI rehired Chemerinsky. And on Monday Schroeder got punked at the OC GOP Central Committee meeting.

Schroeder was the Chairman of the OC GOP Endorsements Committee last year. Now he’s not. Schroeder was demoted and now the new Chairman is Kermit Marsh (pictured at right), the OC GOP Parliamentarian. Marsh will also serve as Vice Chair of the OC GOP Ethics Committee.

Marsh is also the Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Westminster. He was a candidate for the First Supervisorial District last year but he withdrew from the crowded field. I can’t recall if he endorsed Trung Nguyen or Carlos Bustamante, but they both lost, so who cares?

Marsh will be assisted on the OC GOP Endorsements Committee by his new Vice Chair, noted conservative activist Mark Bucher (pictured at left), who is also the OC GOP Treasurer.

Schroeder will still be on the OC GOP Endorsements Committee, but he will just be one of many. He will be joined by blogger/consultant Jon Fleischman, Nancy Padberg, and Villa Park Councilwoman Deborah Pauly.

This is a huge blow to Schroeder and Fleischman. Say what you will about Marsh and Bucher, but they are fair minded individuals. They won’t let Schroeder and Fleischman set the agenda on the OC GOP Endorsements Committee.

Congratulations to Marsh and Bucher. Maybe next time the OC GOP can dump Schroeder and Fleischman off the Endorsements Committee altogether.
