OCCCWS just issued an “Action Alert” asking its members to pester OC Supervisors Chris Norby, Patricia Bates and Bill Campbell to endorse their candidate for OC Sheriff, Craig Hunter. Standard PAC activity, for sure. But this is no ordinary PAC.
If you remember a few posts back, we talked about how OCCCWS is lead by a group of gun guys who wrote letters in support of Mike Carona after he was convicted on felonious corruption charges. Additionally, OCCCWS leader Greg Block was granted special access inside Carona’s department, which Block used to enrich his firearms training company and torment weapons permit applicants.
Yeah, Mike still has a lot of fans. What's the big deal?
So will the Supes lend an ear to these masters of Caronyism?

I am no fan of Mike Carona but I do not believe we should simply dismiss the candidacy of Craig Hunter because he is supported by OCCCWS. Hunter may be a great alternative to Bill “I Love Barbara Coe” Hunt for those of us that do not want to support Sheriff Hutchens.

Tony, you boy keeps insinuating wrongdoing on Hunter’s part, but never provides any actual proof. He has some axe to grind against OCCCWS because they supported Carona, who was really good on their issue. Kiger’s argument is that anyone who supported Carona is automatically suspect, which means the majority of OC voters are somehow corrupt. It’s idiotic reasoning. Guilt by association.
In my book, anybody who supported Carona AFTER HE WAS CONVICTED OF FELONY CORRUPTION CHARGES is suspect.
Deputy Chief Craig Hunter is well respected in the law enforcement community and is a “cop’s cop”. No one that I have spoken to in the law enforcement community has ever spoken poorly of Hunter’s character. If there is some sort of factual documentation to verify these claims of wrongdoing please share it with all of us.
In my book anybody who cozies up to Joe Arpaio and Babs Coe, as Bill Hunt does, is suspect.
Hunter clearly has made some bad decisions with who is on board with his campaign. I would of considered Hunter but the affilations that bother me are the fact that Schroeder and Greg Block are backing his campaign. The Arpaio thing was a bad move by Hunt but he is still the best candidate and that won’t affect my deicison.

The endorsement of Bill Hunt by Sheriff Joe Arpaio was a great political manuever by Hunt, in my opinion. Sheriif Arpaio is a “lawman’s lawman” and receiving his endorsement is a notable accomplishment for any candidate for Orange County Sheriff.
While all candidates for Orange County Sheriff appear to be reasonably “fit” for command, my preference for the position is Bill Hunt, an honest, sincere gentleman with a stoic dedication to fair and universal enforcement of our laws.

You really can’t expect anyone to take your comments seriously when you lead your comments with a posting by an extemist loon like Sean H. Mill. Your story’s credibility just went down the drain. But, nice try anyway; albeit futile.
By the way, Pedroza is as much of a loon. He still thinks the earth is flat, always has been flat, and always will be flat.

Boy ya’ll’s crystals balls are in perfect working order. This ain’t Maricopa County which is being overrun by human smugglers (on their way to Orange County, see Yvette’s articles in OCR), cross boarder gangs, drug smuggling and has the title of second highest kidnapping region in the world. Hunt’s affiliation with a guy that is trying to stop that is a bad thing? What’s going to happen when the stalemated drug wars in mexico happen to spill into Orange County? They are already growing dope in Angeles forest. Anybody heard of the mass murders going on within a few miles of our borders? It will never happen here. Naw.
