Mr. Spitzer, DO YOUR JOB – investigate Tony Beall!

Hello, Mr. District Attorney Spitzer? HEY, TODD! Are you sleeping? Where have you been?

Arthur Sanchez already did all this work for you in July, as this blog documented, and as you, Registrar Page, and Attorney General Bonta have been made well aware: the preponderance of evidence shows that the 2024 nomination papers of Tony Beall to run for Rancho Santa Margarita Mayor were signed by his daughter Amanda, using HIS address (at which she is registered), while she does not live there OR in RSM, but rather has lived in Newport Beach since 2021.

Now we have further proof in a “people search” from August 25, uploaded here (with Amanda’s address partially redacted for her privacy.) It shows her address on 33rd St in Newport, as well as an older address in Irvine; it does NOT show her father’s RSM address, under which she “signed” (if that was her signing) Tony’s nomination papers, and at which she is presumably registered and may have voted from.

Here’s the thing, Mr. Spitzer: You threw Scott Markovitz in jail for the SAME THING in the last election, falsification of nomination papers, and disqualified him from the race. Markovitz of course is an unheard-of former Democrat who registered as a Republican to bleed away votes from an actual Republican.

And you went after RSM’s Carol Gamble (with kid gloves but you went after her) disqualifying her from her re-election for the EXACT SAME THING.

Well, what is holding you up on Mayor Tony Beall? Are we to think powerful Republicans can flout the laws in this county that others end up in the slammer for? Is it true that “laws are like spider webs that only catch the weak and poor” – could that be true in Spitzer’s Orange County?

You made THIS stirring statement when you busted Carol Gamble for the same thing last year:

“American democracy relies on the absolute integrity of the electoral process,” said Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer. “Voters must have total confidence that every election is being carried out in a fair and unbiased manner. Interference in the electoral process in any manner and at any stage jeopardizes the will of the people being carried out while eroding the trust of voters that their vote counts. As the elected District Attorney of Orange County, I refuse to allow our electoral process to be subverted and exploited by anyone.

“The decision to file criminal charges against the candidate prior to an election is not a decision I made lightly but given the risk to the electoral process as well as the potential of the City of Rancho Santa Margarita having to pay for a special election should Gamble be re-elected, there was no choice but to file criminal charges prior to the election and alert voters of her ineligibility to run for City Council. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office remains fiercely committed to investigating and prosecuting election fraud to ensure the voice of every Orange County resident is heard when they cast their ballot.”

So, are those words still operative? The County is waiting, Mr. Spitzer!
